Qi Hongbo, a member of a rescue team, died at the age of 47 on 31 May, 2024. His family made a difficult but great decision to donate his body in order to help more people.
Qi Hongbo worked as a truck driver in Zibo, Shandong. He also worked as a leader of a rescue team in Zibo. He spent almost all of his free time doing voluntary work.
According to Liu Dong, another leader of the rescue team, Qi kept his mobile phone on for 24 hours so that he could help people in need quickly. “He even took his son along with him for volunteering activities. He is prominent in volunteer work. He helps many people,” Liu said.
On the afternoon of 24 May, 2024, Qi fainted(晕倒) while volunteering. When he fell, he hurt his head on a stone chair. The doctor said he had brain death. “My father always wanted to save more people. My mother and I will finish his wish for him,” said Qi Han, the son of Qi Hongbo.
As a rescue member, Qi saved lots of lives during his lifetime. Even after his death, his donation will continue to bring hope to other sick people and help at least two blind people be able to see again.
