弱 读 ( Unstressed Words )
在句子中起粘合作用的助动词、代词、连词、冠词、情态动词等常常会弱读。弱读时，音发得短而快。这些词往往都有自己的弱读音形式(weak form)。例如:
A: Why do you /duj / like pandas
B:Because they're / e / very cute.
A:What are you / ju/ doing
B:We're /wi / jogging.
英语中的助动词和情态动词在句子开头往往弱读、在句子末尾一般重读。例如:
A: Did you have a good time last night
B: Yes, I ' did.
A: Are you feeling better
B: Yes, I 'am.
