(2025·铜仁模拟)I have been passionate about public welfare since childhood, but I never imagined that a Chinese figure named Lei Feng would become an integral part of my life — my guiding star and the inspiration behind a global movement.
In 2018, I came to China for the first time to study at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) and actively participated in the university's public welfare activities. During these events, local people often called me "Yang Lei Feng", which I later learned means "foreign Lei Feng".
Curious, I looked him up online and discovered a young soldier known for his selflessness and dedication to helping others. The more I read, the more I saw how his values aligned with the principles I aspired to uphold.
Inspired by Lei Feng's spirit, I established the Lei Feng International Volunteer Association on March 5, 2021 — Lei Feng Day — alongside young people from different countries at JUFE. Our mission is to support children with special needs, assist the elderly, promote environmental awareness, empower through education, and foster cross-cultural understanding. Through these efforts, we continue to keep Lei Feng's spirit alive in a modern, global context.
On Lei Feng Day in 2025, I took a bold step to spread his legacy beyond China by launching the global "Learn from Lei Feng" campaign. We celebrated the day in five countries — Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya, Algeria, and China — through discussions on his biography, charity programs, and community service activities.
What began as a vision to promote his values internationally has since grown into a global movement, now spanning 15 countries. Our efforts not only strengthen cross-cultural bonds but also contribute to building a more compassionate and service-oriented world.
For me, this campaign represents a full-circle moment. From discovering Lei Feng's story online to now inspiring future generations to follow in his footsteps, I am reminded of how one person's story can spark a movement.
4.Why was the author called "Yang Lei Feng"
A.He majored in public welfare in JUFE.

三、C
(2025·铜仁模拟)Each year, the world loses about 10 million hectares of forest — an area about the size of Iceland because of cutting down trees. At that rate, some scientists predict the world's forests could disappear in 100 to 200 years. To handle it, now researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have pioneered a technique to generate wood-like plant materials in a lab. This makes it possible to "grow" a wooden product without cutting down trees.
In the lab, the researchers first take cells from the leaves of a young plant. These cells are cultured in liquid medium for two days, then moved to another medium which contains nutrients and two different hormones (激素). By adjusting the hormone levels, the researchers can tune the physical and mechanical qualities of the cells. Next, the researchers use a 3D printer to shape the cell-based material, and let the shaped material grow in the dark for three months. Finally, the researchers dehydrate (使脱水) the material, and then evaluate its qualities.
They found that lower hormone levels lead to plant materials with more rounded, open cells of lower density (密度), while higher hormone levels contribute to the growth of plant materials with smaller but denser cell structures. Lower or higher density of cell structures makes the plant materials flexible, helping the materials grow with different wood-like characteristics. What's more, it's to be noted that the research process is about 100 times faster than the time it takes for a tree to grow to maturity!
Research of this kind is ground-breaking. "This work demonstrates the great power of a technology," says lead researcher, Jeffrey Berenstain. "The real opportunity here is to be at its best with what you use and how you use it. This technology can be tuned to meet the requirements you give about shapes, sizes, flexibility, and forms. It enables us to ‘grow' any wooden product in a way that traditional agricultural methods can't achieve."
8.What's the purpose of the study
A.To protect diverse plants. B.To grow more trees.
C.To predict disappearing forests. D.To reduce tree losses.
9.What does the underlined word "tune" in paragraph 2 mean
A.Adopt. B.Change. C.Destroy. D.Increase.
10.Which can be concluded about the plant materials from the findings
A.Higher hormone levels produce less dense cells.
B.Lower hormone levels lead to denser cell structures.
C.The level of hormones influences their flexibility.
D.Their density affects the shape of the cells.
11.What is the most suitable title of the text
A.An Innovative Technique on Plant Materials.
B.A Profound Study on Global Plant Growth.
C.Protecting Plant Diversity in Natural Forests.
D.Comparing Tree Growth in Labs and Nature.

To handle it, now researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have pioneered a technique to generate wood-like plant materials in a lab. This makes it possible to ‘grow' a wooden product without cutting down trees."
By adjusting the hormone levels, the researchers can tune the physical and mechanical qualities of the cells." They found that lower hormone levels lead to plant materials with more rounded, open cells of lower density (密度), while higher hormone levels contribute to the growth of plant materials with smaller but denser cell structures."
They found that lower hormone levels lead to plant materials with more rounded, open cells of lower density (密度), while higher hormone levels contribute to the growth of plant materials with smaller but denser cell structures. Lower or higher density of cell structures makes the plant materials flexible, helping the materials grow with different wood-like characteristics."
故选A。

(2025·铜仁模拟)Researchers at University College London found that boys in year 5 and year 9 in England scored significantly higher than girls in maths and science in recent international assessments. Dr Jennie Golding, of UCL's Institute of Education and the co-principal investigator of the research said, "It is difficult to say exactly why this gap has opened up but our findings point to some factors including confidence and socioeconomic status."
The improvement by boys was particularly noticeable in maths, where the data analysis found that greater confidence was strongly associated with higher scores in the quadrennial tests conducted for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
Across both year groups in maths and in year 9 science, the researchers found that significantly higher percentages of boys reported being very confident on statements related to maths and science, while a large percentage of girls said they were not confident. In year 9 maths, 21% of boys and 9% of girls reported they were very confident, while 38% of boys and 60% of girls reported they were not confident. In 2024, boys consistently outperformed girls at both grades in maths, physics, economics and statistics.
TIMSS uses the number of books at home as an index (指标) for socioeconomic status. Stubborn gaps remain between disadvantaged pupils and their better-off peers. The researchers found a significant gap between pupils who had access to a large number of books at home and those who did not. In year 9 science, pupils in households with fewer than ten books at home scored 461, compared to 601 for those in households with over 200 books at home.
"Those who have fewer educational resources at home need extra funds in order to access the same opportunities to learn compared with their better-resourced peers," said Prof Mary Richardson, the study's co-principal investigator.
12.Why did boys score higher in maths and science than girls
A.Because they were more active. B.Because they were more intelligent.
C.Because they were more confident. D.Because they were more trustworthy.
13.What can we learn from this text
A.Girls outperformed boys at both grades in physics.
B.Book collection could impact academic performance.
C.Socioeconomic status played a key role in students' scores.
D.Narrow gaps existed between struggling and wealthy students .
14.What did Prof Mary Richardson suggest
A.Reducing the difficulty of exams.
B.Boosting self-confidence.
C.Increasing the number of school books.
D.Providing more financial support.
15.How did researchers conduct the study
A.By making comparisons. B.By making explanations.
C.By giving examples. D.By giving definitions.
【答案】12.C
13.B
14.D

Noah and Emma got married last year. After their baby Oliver was born, they were very delighted. However, that soon changed.
One night, Emma accidentally dropped a glass bowl when Oliver was just nearby, but he didn't react or turn around to the big sound of glass breaking. The next day, the hospital confirmed Oliver was born deaf. The couple were so sad. Weeks later, Oliver got his first hearing aid. He could now hear! Noah and Emma were excited.
Three years passed; it was time to send Oliver to school. Emma and Noah often described how great it would feel to be in a class full of friends with a teacher in the front. Oliver began to look forward to his upcoming school life. However, Oliver returned home that day, crying, "I don't want to go to school. I have no friends." The following days, Oliver came back home, still sad. Emma and Noah were anxious.
One Friday, Oliver's teacher, Sarah, met the couple. "Oliver seems shy. He never plays with his classmates. And he doesn't talk to me although I try talking to him. He's afraid that he's different and that his classmates will laugh at him because of his deafness," she said.
Emma and Noah were heartbroken and worried. After chatting with the couple, Sarah learned Oliver's sixth birthday was on Monday of the next week. Then, she made a secret plan for Oliver.
After school that day, Sarah sent a message to the parents of all the children in her class. In the message, she told them about Oliver's trouble. And she wanted them to encourage and ask their kids to come to school on Sunday to prepare a birthday party for Oliver: to decorate the classroom, prepare a birthday cake, etc. Then, Sarah put down her cell phone, wondering whether any parents would support it.

Soon, her phone rang and received a message. She found a kid's parents showed sympathy and agreed. Before long, her phone received such messages one after another, and all parents agreed. On Sunday, Oliver's classmates and even some parents came to school. They decorated the classroom with balloons and streamers, with a big "Happy Birthday" written on the blackboard. And they prepared a birthday cake. When Monday came, Oliver's classmates and Sarah arrived early to give him a surprise.
Oliver arrived at school and pushed the classroom's door open. He was surprised by the classroom's decoration and classmates who all wore colorful birthday caps and smiled at him. Suddenly, soft music played. Oliver burst into tears as he watched his classmates sing happy birthday by gesture. Then, the kids and Sarah circled Oliver and gifted him a flower each. Oliver felt so happy. After that morning, Oliver's school life had a big change. Noah and Emma were quite grateful and glad about it.

故选A。

TIMSS uses the number of books at home as an index (指标) for socioeconomic status. Stubborn gaps remain between disadvantaged pupils and their better-off peers. The researchers found a significant gap between pupils who had access to a large number of books at home and those who did not. In year 9 science, pupils in households with fewer than ten books at home scored 461, compared to 601 for those in households with over 200 books at home."TIMSS 使用家中藏书数量作为社会经济地位的一个指标。
