(2025高一下·柳州开学考)Sylvain Saudan's skiing was so alarmingly daring that people struggled to believe his achievements were real. The Swiss extreme skiing pioneer became the first to successfully rush down the Spencer Couloir's 55-degree slope (斜坡) — with more than 200 turns, at speeds close to freefall on France's Aiguille de Blaitiere mountain in 1967. Locals didn't trust that he'd really done it until a plane flew over the mountain and took photos of his ski tracks. Nicknamed the "skier of the impossible", Saudan looked for slopes from the Himalayas to the Alps, often reaching the tops by helicopter. But in 1982, he climbed for 25 days to reach the 26,500-foot summit (峰顶) of Pakistan's Gasherbrum I, searching for undeveloped areas in its natural state. "The first to dare something are the real adventurers," he said in 2016. "It's the first that matters."
Raised on a farm in the Alps, Saudan didn't have the resources to train as a competitive skier, and worked as a laborer and truck driver before becoming a ski instructor. Teaching through icy winters in Scotland helped prepare him for deadly slopes. After skiing the Spencer Couloir, he spent twenty years "looking for greater challenges and testing new methods," said The Washington Post. He developed a new skiing style and introduced equipment innovations for steep slopes, but ignored safety measures as he shot down Oregon's Mount Hood, Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro, and Nepal's Dhaulagiri.
Saudan completed his last major journey in 1986 by skiing down Mount Fuji on bare rocks, walking away without a single cut. He "spent his life challenging gravity, avalanches (雪崩), and obituary (讣告) writers, " said The New York Times. He insisted that mental preparation helped keep fear cornered, yet death was never far from his mind. "There's really only one way out," he said, "Don't fall down. "
4.How did people react to Saudan's achievement on the Spencer Couloir's 55-degree slope
A.They considered it as a fact at once.
B.They were not aware of it completely.
C.They thought of him as a skiing pioneer.
D.They doubted it till evidence (证据) arrived.
5.Which of the following can best describe Saudan
A.Adventurous and devoted. B.Brave and generous.
C.Creative but frightened. D.Reserved but famous.
6.Why did Saudan go skiing
A.To test new skiing equipment.
B.To push himself to new limits.
C.To keep track of adventures for fame.
D.To escape his past life as a laborer.

(2025高一下·柳州开学考)Many people have an immediate negative reaction to the word fat. But according to a new study, fat tissue (组织) itself is very, very important for health. It's an important place to store the extra energy in our body. Fat tissue is supposed to be stored under the skin. If it can't go there, it's going to other places such as your liver, heart or pancreas (胰腺). More fat in those organs could affect how well they function. Exercising regularly over time makes fat tissue a more accommodating place for extra energy under conditions when we do gain weight.
To see how exercise impacts fat tissue, researchers compared fat tissue just under the skin from two groups of 16 people with overweight problem: those who reported exercising at least four times a week for at least 2 years, and those who did not exercise regularly. People who had a history of regular exercise in the past had fat cells with features that allowed them to store more fat.
Result from the former group showed several structural changes in fat tissue, including slightly smaller fat cells and more of them, and changes in proteins (蛋白质) that adjust body fat remodeling. However, many of the above changes disappeared when regular exercise stopped. Dr. Horowitz, professor of movement studies at the University of Michigan, said, "This is one of the big reasons why it is so important to be physically active most days. A lot of the body's exercises help you to keep going longer or push harder in your works."
The key takeaway of the study is that we're broadening our understanding of why it is helpful to exercise. There are so many ways to exercise, and figuring out a way to make it part of the daily routine plays an important role. Of course, you should check with your doctor first to make sure it's safe.
8.What can we learn about fat tissue from Paragraph 1
A.It is most energy-demanding. B.It has little to do with fatness.
C.Its location makes a difference. D.Its function is to control health.
9.How are the participants in the research grouped
A.By their health problem. B.By their body weight.
C.By their workout habit. D.By their personal hobby.
10.What is stressed in Paragraph 3
A.Weight loss depends on less fat tissue.
B.Exercise can reshape protein structure.
C.Harder training results in stronger fat tissue.
D.Fat tissue is closely related to regular exercise.
11.What is the main idea of the passage
A.Fat tissue is harmful to health.
B.Regular exercise improves fat tissue function.
C.Exercise should be done only a few times a week.
D.Avoiding weight gain is the key to health.
【答案】8.C
9.C
10.D

More fat in those organs could affect how well they function. "脂肪组织本应储存在皮下。如果无法储存在皮下,就会堆积到肝脏、心脏或胰腺等其他部位。这些器官中脂肪过多可能会影响其正常功能。可知,脂肪组织的储存位置会对健康产生影响。故选C。
9.细节理解题。根据第二段中的"To see how exercise impacts fat tissue, researchers compared fat tissue just under the skin from two groups of 16 people with overweight problem: those who reported exercising at least four times a week for at least 2 years, and those who did not exercise regularly. "为了研究运动对脂肪组织的影响,研究人员对两组各16名超重人士的皮下脂肪组织进行了对比分析:一组是每周至少锻炼四次、持续两年以上的规律运动者,另一组则是不经常锻炼的人群。可知,研究人员按锻炼习惯对参与者进行分组。故选C。
10.推理判断题。根据第三段中的"Result from the former group showed several structural changes in fat tissue, including slightly smaller fat cells and more of them, and changes in proteins that adjust body fat remodeling. However, many of the above changes disappeared when regular exercise stopped."
Exercising regularly over time makes fat tissue a more accommodating place for extra energy under conditions when we do gain weight. "长期坚持规律运动能让脂肪组织在我们体重增加时,更容易容纳额外的能量;以及最后一段中的"The key takeaway of the study is that we're broadening our understanding of why it is helpful to exercise. "这项研究的关键发现是:我们进一步拓宽了对"运动为何有益健康"的科学认知。可知本文介绍了一项研究证明,规律运动能改善脂肪组织的功能,使其更有效储存能量,从而提升健康水平。故选B。

Visual (视觉的) learners process information best when it's presented with images drawn on a whiteboard, charts or graphs. Visual learners usually process pictures before they read printed text and are also able to visualize concepts quickly. People who are visual learners would prefer it if instruction is printed rather than given verbally (口头地), and may often write or draw when attempting to make sense of a new topic. Many visual learners remember something better once they've written it down or drawn it out.
Auditory (听觉的) learners process information best when it's said out loud, such as in a lecture setting or spoken presentation. This type of learners can easily recall what others say and prefer to talk through topics they find complex or difficult to understand. People who are auditory learners prefer verbal directions and may use repetition or repeat things aloud to memorize things. They may ask questions to understand the subject matter better and may need to hear something repeated more than once before they fully comprehend. Auditory learners also often benefit from listening to recordings as a method of absorbing new concepts.
Kinesthetic (动觉的) learners process information through experience rather than by being shown or told. This type of learners prefer to do things that are more "hands-on". They prefer to touch and feel items and can easily recall things they've done. People who are kinesthetic learners like to make and create things using their hands, and remember information best when they are physically involved. Kinesthetic learners like to take part in the process by shadowing others, and prefer to practice concepts as a way to absorb new information.
Take time to consider how you prefer to take in new information. Think about the last time how you worked to ensure you retained the information. The answers to these questions will help you discover which learning style works best for you.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Education
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
The Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Education
With technological advancements, online education has gained widespread popularity. One major advantage is that online learning provides unparalleled flexibility, which allows students to access course materials according to their own schedules. Additionally, access to global courses breaks geographical barriers.
However, disadvantages exist. The lack of face-to-face interaction that characterizes traditional classrooms may hinder effective communication. Furthermore, while some students thrive in self-paced environments, others struggle with distractions that inevitably arise in home-based learning.
In my view, online education is valuable but cannot fully replace traditional classrooms. A blended approach — combining online resources with face-to-face interaction — would be ideal. Schools should improve digital platforms to enhance engagement, while students must cultivate time-management skills.

My twins, Allison and Blake, were always disappointed with their birthday presents. They'd complain (抱怨) loudly if they didn't get what was on their wish lists. Their self-centeredness and lack of gratitude shocked me, making me realize I'd spoiled (宠坏) them more than I thought.
I was determined to do something.
I found a family living on a farm that needed help badly. There were four children in the family aged from three to eight. I began to visit them every two months.
As Allison and Blake's birthday neared, I took them to the farm. When we arrived, I told my children to take two bags off the car: one with food, the other with presents they'd once disliked.
We were welcomed inside with smiles and appreciation. Obviously, Alison and Blake were shocked by what they saw. I could guess they had never expected people would live such a difficult life.
"Look! Presents for you. " Allison was trying to make the kids happier.
With their parents' permission (允许), the kids began to pick the boxes up, shake them, and guess what was inside. They were so excited. Allison and Blake encouraged the kids to open the boxes. They did. And there were shouts of surprise and joy. Then grateful hugs and sincere "thank-you".
At first Alison and Blake looked confused but soon joined the children and felt proud that they brought happiness there.
On the way home, Alison and Blake were a little quiet. When it was time to go to bed that day, my kids hugged me and said, "Thank you, Mum."

They explained that they wanted to choose gifts that the children on the farm would truly enjoy. I was proud of their thoughtfulness and agreed to help them. They spent hours browsing through stores, carefully selecting toys, books, and clothes that they thought the children would love. They even asked for a budget and made sure to stay within it, showing a newfound sense of responsibility.
I agreed and offered to drive them to the farm. When we arrived, the children and their parents were overjoyed to see the presents. Alison and Blake handed out the gifts with smiles on their faces, and the children's excitement was contagious. They were excited to see the joy on the faces of the children as they received the presents. On the way home, Alison and Blake talked about how happy the children were and how they wanted to continue helping them. They had learned the true meaning of giving and gratitude, and I knew that their experience had changed them for the better.

They spent hours browsing through stores, carefully selecting toys, books, and clothes that they thought the children would love. They were excited to see the joy on the faces of the children as they received the presents.
