1. What is happening in different time zones around the world right now
(1) happen v. 发生
① sth. happens to sb. 某人遇到某事
② sth. happens + 时间状语/地点状语某时/某地发生某事
e.g. —What happened to you 你怎么了？
—I had a cold, but I feel much better now.
我感冒了，但我现在感觉好多了。
An accident happened in that street. 那条街上发生了一起事故。
Language points
e.g. On my way to school, I happened to see an old man lying on the ground and helped him to hospital. 上学路上，我碰巧看到一位老人躺在地上，就帮忙把他送到了医院。

rush作名词的常见用法：

e.g. When you’re in a rush, it’s easier to make mistakes.

4. Lights are shining brightly across the city, and colourful boats are moving slowly down the river.
(1) shine v. 发光；照耀
其过去式为shone，现在分词为shining。
e.g. The sun shone in a clear blue sky. 太阳在晴朗的碧空中照耀着。
n. 光亮 常用单数形式，其形容词形式为shiny“光亮的”。
e.g. Her hair took on a healthy shine.
她的头发呈现出一种健康的光泽。
(2) slowly adv. 缓慢地
由“slow (adj.缓慢的)+ -ly (副词后缀)”构成。
The river is running slowly. 河水流得很慢。
【拓展】slow v. （使）放慢速度，减缓
e.g. The train slowed down as it came to the station.
火车进站时慢了下来。
5. Some people are shopping for gifts, such as paintings and bags, in the markets.

短语 相同点 不同点
such as 均表示部分列举，列举对象通常为同类的人或事物。 常位于列举对象之前，列举对象可以是名词（短语）或动词-ing（短语）。
