alone 副词 “独自;单独” ，相当于by oneself。
形容词 “独处的; 独自的” 常用作表语。

此句中的does起强调作用，表示“真的，的确”。在英语中，可以借助助动词do对谓语进行强调，do位于谓语动词前，且do有人称、数和时态的变化(do/does/did)。起强调作用的do要重读。

1 Why do you think many people like to keep pets
Firstly, pets can be great companions. For example, dogs are always excited to see their owners and can stay by their side, making people feel less lonely.
Secondly, taking care of pets can teach people responsibility. We need to feed them, clean up after them and make sure they are healthy. It helps us learn how to be more responsible in life.

I’d like to have a cat as a pet. Cats are very cute. Their soft fur and big, innocent eyes always melt my heart. And they are independent. 3 What things should you think about before getting a pet

You should be ready to take care of it for many years. Finally, make sure there are no family members allergic to the pet you want to get.
