[2026届湖南长沙市长郡中学11月月考] As a senior resident, I often distributed poems to my team, printing and posting them above the computers in our hospital workrooms. Once, during a rare quiet moment in the ICU, with permission from my colleagues, I read a couple of poems out loud. I remember watching my colleagues' eyes close and their bodies visibly relax as the words washed over them.
Since then, I have shared poems-my own and others'-in talks at my institution and across the country. I've also led other healthcare providers in creative writing exercises during workshops, lectures and classes. Many institutions host book clubs, story slams, film screenings and other opportunities for medical learners to engage with the humanities(人文学科).
While poetry can be frightening to some, many contemporary poems provide approachable emotional experiences. Pieces like Safiya Sinclair's "Notes on the State of Virginia" fully illustrate how a place that seems innocent or even beautiful to some can be upsetting to others. Monica Sok's "ABC for Refugees" powerfully paints a portrait of a young child caught between languages and cultures-a reality that many pediatric(儿科的)patients face. "Ode to Small Towns" by Tyree Daye overturns common assumptions about rural life. In “Medical History", Nicole Sealey shares a patient's perspective on a part of health care that, for many of my students and colleagues, has been reduced to a series of check boxes on a computer screen. These and other poems provide fertile ground for enhanced understanding of the human condition, as well as inspiration for a clinician's own potentially transformative reflective writing.
The possibilities for cooperation between literature and medicine are wide open. I believe all clinicians have a role in recognizing and dealing with how everyone has been shaped by an unreasonable society. The history, sociopolitical context, imaginative perspective and reflective practice the humanities offer may improve the practice of medicine. Through understanding others'
experiences and reflecting critically on their own, every clinician can move closer to being the kind of healer they intend to be.
1.What can we infer about the author's practice of sharing poems
A. It started in the ICU and has expanded to multiple settings
B. It focuses only on creating original poems for medical teams.
C. It has replaced other humanitarian activities in medical institutions.
D. It is mainly carried out through public lectures across the country.
2.Whose poem may change people's beliefs about the countryside
A. Monica Sok's. B. Tyree Daye's.
C. Safiya Sinclair's. D. Nicole Sealey's.
3.What does Nicole Sealey's work seem to imply
A. Doctors should have better medical skills.
B. It's urgent to upgrade the medical equipment.
C. There's room for improvement in medical care.
D. A patient can be treated from different perspectives.
4. Which statement does the author probably agree with
A. The humanities help make a better doctor.
B. The clinicians are to shape our future society.
C. Doctors must learn from each other's experiences.
D. Reflective writing greatly benefits a doctor's skills.
根据第一段及第二段中的“Since then,I have shared poems-my own and others'-in talks at my institution and across the country”可知,作者首次在ICU朗读诗歌,之后便开始“在机构内及全国各地的讲座中分享诗歌”。故选A。
根据第三段中对Tyree Daye 作品的描述“'Ode to Small Towns'by Tyree Daye overturns common assumptions about rural life”可知,其作品可能改变人们对乡村的看法。故选B。
【解题线索】题干中的"change people's beliefs aboutthe countryside”与文中的“overturns common assumptions about rural life"为同义转述。
根据第三段中对Nicole Sealey作品的描述“In'Medical History',Nicole Sealey shares a patient's perspective on a part of health care that, for many of my students and colleagues, has been reduced to a series of check boxes on a computer screen”可知,在《病历》中,Nicole Sealey 从患者视角出发,指出医疗保健的某些部分被简化成了电脑屏幕上的勾选框,这暗示当下部分医疗服务流于形式,忽视了患者的真实体验,存在改进空间。故选C。
故选A。
B项 “The clinicians are to shape our future society”将医生的角色过度拔高和泛化,脱离了文中“healer”(医治者)的核心定位。
C项 “learn from each other's experiences”偏离重点,文中强调的是理解“others'experiences”(尤其是患者的),而非医生同行之间。
[2026届巴蜀中学11月第四次月考] If you've found yourself thinking,“Why don't I feel anything?”—you're not alone. Emotional numbness(麻木)is a common experience. It often comes across as going through the motions of life without truly connecting to it. 1
This sense of disconnection is the mind's way of protecting itself. Emotional numbness can develop as a response to stress, burnout, or unprocessed emotions. 2. It doesn't always appear as sadness but can show up as emotional flatness or internal emptiness. In others, it can accompany anxiety, where the body stays in an extended state of hyperarousal(反应过度),leading to a shutdown or withdrawal.
3. This is especially true when someone is focused on “getting through" rather than feeling. Over time, avoiding difficult emotions can become automatic, making it harder to reconnect with the full range of emotional experience.
Sometimes, people notice emotional changes while adjusting to new medications. Certain treatments may temporarily dampen emotional intensity as they work to restore balance. 4 .In fact, for many people, it plays a vital role in improving the quality of life. If you ever feel emotionally flat or distant while on medication, it's worth having a conversation with your provider to find the right balance for your mind and body.
The important thing to remember is that emotional numbness is not a flaw. It's a signal-your body and brain telling you they need rest, reflection, or support. 5 ,and it begins with small steps: slowing down, tuning into your body, giving yourself permission to feel, and allowing space for both joy and pain.
A. For some, it may be part of depression
B. This doesn't mean medication is harmful
C.Reconnecting with your emotions is possible
D. These are daily routines that can be easily achieved
E. You might not feel fully engaged though you're present
F. Emotional numbness can also occur during survival mode
G. In certain cases, emotions can get in the way of self-protection
F项“Emotional numbness can also occur during survival mode”中的“survival mode”与后文的“getting through”是同义替换,also体现了此处是说明前文(心理防御)之外的另一种成因,逻辑连贯。

【释疑难】常与现在完成时连用的时间状语有:①since+过去时间点/从句;②so far,up to now,until now,till now;③already,yet,just,ever,never,recently,lately;④for+时间段,如for ten years。
与“has attracted...”
in line with为固定短语,意为“与…
