Getting enough sleep is important for your health. Sleep gives you time to rest and helps you feel refreshed in the morning.
Read the passage and write true (T) or false (F).
When you don’t sleep well, you may feel sleepy all day. You can’t think or work well. Sometimes, you may have trouble getting along with others.

Language points
When you don’t sleep well, you may feel sleepy all day.
当你睡眠不好时,你可能会一整天都感到困倦。
may:可能、或许(情态动词,后接动词原形)
“may+动词原形”表可能性、推测,语气委婉,用于描述不确定的情况。无人称和数的变化(无论主语是单复数,均用may+原形)
例:They may need good sleep.(他们可能需要良好的睡眠。)
sleepy:adj.困倦的、想睡觉的
feel:感到(感官系动词)
feel+形容词,表 “感到……”,类似的表达有:feel happy(感到开心)、look tired(看起来累)、sound great(听起来很棒)。
拓展:
sleepy adj. 困倦的、想睡觉的 可作表语或定语;表示 “还没睡,很想睡” 例:I feel sleepy. 我感到困倦。
asleep adj. 睡着的 只能作表语,不能放在名词前;表示 “已经睡着” 例:She falls asleep quickly.她很快入睡。
sleep v.睡觉/n.睡眠 作动词:表动作;作名词:表 “睡眠” 这个概念 例:I sleep 8 hours. 我睡8小时。

sleeping 现在分词/adj. 正在睡觉的 作定语:放在名词前;作谓语:和be动词连用 例:He is sleeping. 他正在睡觉。
spend:v. 花费(时间/金钱)
spend time on sth.:在某事上花费时间
例:We shouldn’t spend time on computer games.
我们不应该在电脑游戏上花时间。
spend money on sth.:在某事上花费金钱
例:We spend money on school things.
我们花钱买学习用品。
Don’t spend too much time on your phone before going to bed.
睡觉前不要花太多时间玩手机。

spend 主语为人 后接时间/金钱 sb. spend(s) time/money on sth. 某人在某事/物上花费时间/金钱 sb. spend(s) time/money (in) doing sth. 某人花费时间/金钱做某事 例:I spend 1 hour on English.
我花1小时学英语。
I spend 1 hour learning English.
我花1小时学习英语。
cost 主语为物/事 后接金钱 sth. cost(s) sb. money 某物花费(某人)多少钱 例:The book costs me 10 yuan.
这本书花了我10元。
take it 作形式主语 后接时间 It takes sb. time to do sth. 做某事花费某人多长时间 例:It takes me 30 minutes to walk to school.
我步行去学校需要30分钟。
pay 主语为人 后接金钱 sb. pay(s) money for sth. 某人为某物付多少钱 例:I pay 20 yuan for the pen.
我花了20元买这支笔。
need to do sth.:需要做某事
例:We need to drink more water.(我们需要多喝水。)
calm down 平静下来;(使)平静下来
calm sb. down 使某人平静下来
例:The music can calm you down.(音乐能让你平静下来。)
Your brain needs to calm down.
你的大脑需要冷静下来。
awake:adj.醒着的/v.使醒来;唤醒
例:The noise awoke me.(噪音把我吵醒了。)
keep awake:保持清醒
例:Coffee can keep you awake.(咖啡会让你保持清醒。)
keep+宾语+形容词:使/让某人/某物保持某种状态。(例:keep healthy保持健康 / keep calm保持冷静 / keep quiet保持安静)
The light from the screen can keep you awake.
屏幕的光线会让你保持清醒。
30 minutes or more:名词短语,表示 “30 分钟或更长时间”,修饰动作发生的时间。
put... away: 把…… 收起来、把…… 收好”
动词+副词构成的动副短语,宾语是名词时,名词放在away 前后均可,宾语是人称代词时,须放在away前。
例:Please put your school things away. = Please put away your
school things.(请把你的学习用品收好。)
Put them away.(把它们收起来。)
Put your phone away 30 minutes or more before bedtime.
睡前30分钟或更早将手机收起来。

rise的多种含义:
vi. 起床;起身
例:Early to bed and early to rise.(早睡早起。)
vi. 上升;升起(向上移动)
例:The sun rises in the east.(太阳从东方升起。)
vi. 增长;提高(数量、价格、水平变高)
例:The temperature is rising.(气温正在上升。)
vi. 站起来;起身(从坐 / 躺的状态站起来)
例:He rose from his seat.(他从座位上站了起来。)
n. 增加;上升
例:There is a rise in temperature.(气温有所上升。)
★祈使句
祈使句是表示命令、请求、建议、劝告、警告的句子。在祈使句中,通常省略主语you,其肯定形式常以动词原形开头,否定形式是在动词原形前加don’t。祈使句句尾用句号或感叹号。为表示礼貌,可以在句首或句末加上please。句末用please时,前面通常加逗号。
