Despite medical progress, treating bone breaks with many small pieces remains a big challenge. It is time-consuming and often leads to poor healing, greatly affecting patients’ quality of life. For over 40 years, Professor Fan Shunwu dreamed of a bone-gluing material and passed the task to post-90s doctor Lin Xianfeng. His inspiration came during a visit to his hometown, where the ancient Luoyang Bridge has stood firm for centuries despite the wearing effect of seawater.
The secret lies in oysters raised under the bridge by ancient craftsmen. These shellfish produce adhesive (粘合的) threads and natural glue to attach tightly to granite piers (花岗岩桥墩). Their calcium-rich shells pile up layer by layer, filling gaps between stones and forming a strong barrier that defends the bridge against seawater. Instead of fighting the ocean, the craftsmen use the power of nature, which reflects the wisdom of learning from nature.
Drawing on this bionic principle, the team overcame key technical difficulties. After years of testing, they created “Bone 02” with three core breakthroughs: strong, instant adhesion in blood-rich environments, easy application, and gradual biodegradability.
In over 150 clinical cases, it proved safe and effective. A young worker once suffered a terrible break in his wrist. The traditional treatment would require a large cut to implant a plate and some screws (螺丝) — risky and requiring a second operation for removal. With “Bone 02”, doctors made a 2-3 cm small cut, injected the adhesive, and fixed the bone in just 3 minutes. A three-month follow-up confirmed full healing — no complications and complete wrist function recovery.
From laboratories to operating rooms, scientists continually push the boundaries of life and health. This original Chinese achievement, born from multidisciplinary cooperation, marks a major breakthrough. It applies to most bone breaks and holds broad prospects, contributing Chinese wisdom to global health.
24.What inspired Lin Xianfeng to develop the new adhesive
A.The natural ability of the shellfish. B.The durable quality of granite.
C.The clever design of Luoyang Bridge. D.The previous findings in medicine.
25.Which of the following is a feature of “Bone 02”
A.Natural absorption. B.Gentle muscle healing.
C.Increasing blood flow. D.Wound-free treatment.
26.Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “complications” in paragraph 4
A.Complex techniques. B.Severe breaks.
C.Secondary problems. D.Positive changes.
27.What is the main purpose of the text
A.To explain the wisdom of ancient craftspeople.
B.To introduce a bionic medical invention from China.
C.To compare traditional and modern bone treatments.
D.To stress the importance of multidisciplinary cooperation.

Sint-Paulus, a primary school in Kortrijk, Belgium, won the 2023 New European Bauhaus Award with its “Climate Playground” project. A climate adaptive playground goes for smart rainwater handling, offers greenery, softens school ground, and creates opportunities to discover climate issues. This connection to nature has made school a lot more fun.
What has changed underground is an important part of the climate playground design. A rainwater collection system with a capacity of 150,000 litres has been installed (安装) and rainwater is stored and reused. What cannot be stored flows away into the planting, making the school highly effective at absorbing water.
Green spaces account for at least 60 percent although some of the area remains hard-surfaced for ball games on rainy days. Trees and bushes form the green areas with a colourful background of flowers. These green spaces act as outright invitations to play and provide space for natural-looking play facilities. Children run on the courses, enjoy challenging tasks, and play games like hide-and-seek, which greatly enriches their outdoor life.
The climate playground also offers teachers extra instructional opportunities. They no longer have to visit parks to teach about blossoms and autumn colouring as the playground offers constant, varied learning experiences. Teachers often organize projects such as Bird-counting Day, where children feed birds and identify different species. There is also a popular vegetable garden, where children actively grow plants and healthy food. In a separate area, there is a chicken house managed by sixth-graders. Teachers use it to make math lessons extra engaging. Children weigh the feed and put it into statistics against the number of eggs they collect.
In recent years, Sint-Paulus’ practice has led to the establishment of BLES — a network of experts in outdoor play and learning. It supports dozens of schools in greening and softening their grounds. In the long run, such playgrounds are expected to become the norm, as there is no better place for children to learn about the environment than a climate playground.
28.What can we learn about the Climate Playground project from paragraph 1
A.It purifies rainwater for daily use. B.It promotes students’ physical health.
C.It is intended to compete for an award. D.It puts climate discovery in a natural setting.
29.Why does some of the area of the ground remain hard-surfaced
A.To ensure easy maintenance. B.To enrich students’ outdoor life.
C.To provide space for facilities. D.To fit different weather conditions.
30.What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A.Creative teaching methods. B.Educational value of the playground.
C.Physical activity schedules. D.Practical tips on vegetable gardening.
31.Which of the following agrees with the educational philosophy of Sint-Paulus
A.True education starts outside campus.
B.School can serve as an extension of nature.
C.A child’s growth should be a journey, not a race.
D.Playground design balances study and entertainment.

In a world where ever-changing high-end techniques are redefining the lifestyles of “Generation Z”, a game named Black Myth: Wukong, with its exquisite scenarios and Chinese culture genes, has brought about a mania among gaming enthusiasts worldwide.
Within 10 hours of its official release globally, the Triple-A game had over two million concurrent players on Steam. The unexpected success of the game, developed by a private Chinese company over six years, has allowed people to appreciate exotic Chinese traditional culture in addition to the fun and joy of playing the game.
Wukong, or Monkey King, is an iconic figure from Journey to the West—a Chinese classic novel dating back about 500 years. Back to the essence, just as Feng Ji, the game’s producer, said,
“The game is good enough in quality to attract games to soak into the Chinese god-evil story.” An ongoing hot discussion on Reddit’s online game community shows games are “hardworking” on every detail of the novel.
Games combining iconic cultural elements may be regarded as a form of cultural exchange. Indeed, enjoying the game could be a journey to experience the beauty of Chinese culture—its music, landscapes, architecture, clothes, or even folk tales. “Traditional culture is right there, and you’ll like it when you see it,” said the game’s art director, Yang Qi. “What we can do is to give people a closer look through the game.”
China’s abundance of well-preserved historical buildings offered the domestic game developer an innate advantage. Digitally scanning ancient buildings to present them in the game is more cost-saving and provides a better authentic experience.
Of course, a game is a game. China will always welcome travelers from around the world who want to explore and learn more about its profound culture.
As a Reddit user wrote, “I (American) have been waiting so long to have more Chinese influence in the Western game sphere. Chinese culture and mythology are rich. I hope we can get more stuff like this. Would love to go to China someday.”
32.What does the underlined word “mania” in Paragraph 1 mean
A.challenge B.reflection C.craze D.pursuit
33.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about
A.The developer of the game. B.The popularity of the game.
C.The influence of the game. D.The contents of the game.
34.What are the games talking about on Reddit’s online game community
A.The hard work of producers. B.The description of Chinese culture.
C.The fun of playing the game. D.The plots of Journey to the West.
35.Why is the game popular among players worldwide
A.It promotes exotic folk tales. B.It protects ancient buildings.
C.It contains traditional Chinese culture. D.It includes breathtaking landscapes.

It was the last day of finals, and I had no idea I was already an hour late for my last exam. I spotted a classmate leaving the psychology building, and he broke the news: the exam had started at 11:00 a. m., not our usual 12:20 class time as I’d assumed. Panic hit me hard for a few seconds.
I took a deep breath to calm down. “Stay calm — you can fix this,” I told myself. My plan was clear: find my professor, Mr. White, and explain what happened. On my way into the building, I ran into Amanda, who was in charge of the program. I told her my problem, and her encouraging words gave me some confidence. I held onto hope that my professor was nearby.
I decided to check his office, and on the way, I’d look for his car. I was both in awe of and a little scared of this professor — a middle-aged Scottish philosophy teacher with long hair, known for his sharp wit and bad mood when annoyed. Before reaching the parking lot, I crossed my fingers: “Please let his car be here, and let him be in a good mood.”
Relief washed over me when I saw his car. I hurried to his office, my heart racing fast. But his office light was on, and no one was inside. I didn’t want to give up, though — so I thought: Try the Kampus Korner diner.
As I walked to the diner, I felt a sudden courage. I opened the door, and there he was, grading papers near the entrance. It was perfect timing.
“I missed your 11:00 exam,” I said, my voice steadier than I expected. “I know,” he replied calmly. “I was there. You should have been, too.” His words made me nervous, but I knew honesty was my only choice. “It’s all my fault,” I admitted. “I didn’t double-check the time for the final I’d studied so hard for.”
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;

Text 10
When was the last time you looked up and saw a clear sky full of stars If you live in a big city, the answer is probably: a long time ago. The reason for this is light pollution. Streetlights, billboards and even the lights in our houses block our view of the night sky and mask the stars. According to a study,60% of Europeans and almost four - fifths of people in North America cannot see the Milky Way at night.(18)Bright lights don't just make us miss a nice view. They also affect animals, confusing them when they migrate. For example, sea turtles, which navigate by the moon, often become disoriented due to artificial lights on beaches.(19) Birds that migrate at night are also thrown off course by city lights, sometimes flying into buildings or changing their migration patterns altogether. And this type of pollution is bad for human health by disrupting human sleep patterns. Luckily, there are solutions. First, cities can install streetlights that point downward instead of spreading light in all directions.(20) Then, shops can turn off bright signs after midnight. Last, we could follow the Czech Republic's example and introduce a law against light pollution. We may see the starry night sky once again if we take action now.

67.【答案】 Surprisingly, he smiled, pulling a two-page double-sided multiple choice exam form. “Luckily, I prepared a spare copy just in case,” he said, pushing the form and a pen toward me. “You have exactly 45 minutes — same as everyone else. No extra time, no exceptions.” I nodded eagerly, my hands still shaking slightly as I grabbed the pen. The diner was noisy with chatter, but I tuned it all out, focusing on every question. I’d studied for weeks, and the answers came to me one by one, though I paused on a few tricky multiple choices, my mind racing to recall Mr. White’s lectures.
Time was up and I handed the exam form to my professor, feeling restless and uneasy. I apologized again for my carelessness, fearing this mistake would ruin my final grade. He glanced at the form, then met my eyes with his usual sharp but kind gaze. “You did well — better than most, actually,” he said, tucking the paper into his folder. “Mistakes happen, but taking responsibility matters more. Go enjoy your break.” I let out a deep breath, gratitude flooding over me. That day, I learned kindness could hide behind a strict exterior — and to always double-check exam times.
