Text 1
M: I want to volunteer at the science fair this year. I should have done it last year, but I wanted to look around at
the other exhibitions.
W: Well, they’ll definitely accept you, since you won the competition two years ago.
Text 2
M: I can’t believe it’s already the weekend. I’m planning to visit my grandparents. What about you
W: I’m just going to rest, enjoy myself at home and catch up on some sleep. I’ve been so busy lately.
Text 3
W: Do you like your new house
M: It’s nice to have enough space for all my things, so I’m glad that I moved. But I miss my friends and neighbors.
I especially miss living so close to the school.
Text 4
W: What a long day! We’ve been given a lot of English homework for the weekend. There was also a surprise test
in math class.
M: I hate it when you get a test and haven’t had time to prepare for it.
W: Nobody likes it.
Text 5
M: Hey, Tina! You look tired.
W: Yeah, I just didn’t have a good sleep. I had a strange dream about snakes that were all over my house.
M: Well, snakes in dreams mean a change. But don’t worry. The change in life can be good.
Text 6
M: Hello, Brady and Associates. Can I help you
W: Hi, my name is Kate. I was due to come in for an interview with Mr. Brady next Tuesday.
M: OK, yes
W: I’ve just accepted an offer from another company across town. I don’t want to waste anybody’s time ...
M: No problem. Thank you for letting us know. I’ll go ahead and update Mr. Brady’s calendar.
W: Thanks for your understanding.
M: Of course! Congratulations and best of luck with your new position!
Text 7
W: Do you feel like joining our study group for the science project
M: Sure. That would be great. When and where do you guys meet
W: We usually meet at the library on Thursday afternoons.
M: Well. That’s tomorrow, but I will have a basketball practice then.
W: Oh. I didn’t know you were so serious about playing basketball, so is it at this time every week
M: Normally it’s on Fridays, but our coach is going on a business trip this Friday afternoon.
W: That’s all right. We’ll be happy to see you in the group next week.
Text 8
W: Hi, Mr. Park. I heard robots were brought into our community dining rooms last month. How’s it going
M: Yeah, it’s true. We introduced them to make senior dining services easier. So far, it’s been working quite well.
W: That’s interesting. But some people around here worry that the robots might take their jobs. What’s your
opinion
M: Well, I think bringing in modern technology like robots is a great move for our community. But don’t worry,
we’ll still have jobs that robots can’t do.
W: Like what kind of jobs
M: We’re planning to arrange some special events for the seniors, like art shows and game competitions. These
need human creativity.
W: Oh, I see. So the staff in the dining rooms will have new tasks then
M: Exactly. They’ll be in charge of organizing these events. It’s important to let them know about our plans early,
because getting used to new tasks can be hard.
W: You’re right. Good planning can make the period of changing smoother.
Text 9
W: Miriam and Alex have asked me to make their wedding cake. I said yes, but I feel really nervous about it.
M: Wow, that’s great. They must have really liked that chocolate cake you made for Miriam’s birthday.
W: Yes, but that was so easy compared with this!
M: I understand you are feeling worried. Just remember that a wedding cake is just like a really big birthday cake.
W: Ha - ha - I don’t think so, but I guess that’s a good way to think about it.
M: OK, how about just thinking about it as three birthday cakes on top of each other
W: You’re making me laugh now. I guess that’s better than feeling nervous!
M: Exactly! It’s just like making soup. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, it’s the taste that matters.
W: Actually, I’m pretty sure a wedding cake is the exact opposite of that! But thanks for cheering me up!
Text 10
I recently joined the nature club at school. I wanted to join the science club but they had no spaces left so I had
to change my decision. At first, I thought I was not interested in this but it has turned out to be amazing. We are
always learning amazing facts about nature. For example, did you know that 97% of the earth’s water is actually
salt water found in the oceans That means only three percent of the planet’s water is fresh water. Yet we can only
use about one third of it as the remainder is too far underground or is ice. Another interesting fact I learned from
the Internet is that forests, cover 30% of all land on the earth. At least a third of that has been completely
undisturbed by human activity. Speaking of forests,a quarter of all modern medicines come from plants found in
rainforests. That is why saving the rainforests is so important. Not only do they provide us with air to breathe, but
they also grow things to keep us healthy. I’m going to share this fact with the nature club on Wednesday.

One possible version:
Hello everyone,
It’s my great honor to deliver a speech on changes in the ways of conveying information to you today.
In earlier times, people used carrier pigeons to send messages, which was slow and unreliable. Then, with the
postal system evolving, mail delivery became postmen’s job. Today, in the digital age, smartphones have
revolutionized communication, enabling people to pass on information globally in seconds with just a few clicks.
From waiting for a pigeon to receiving a text instantly, we’ve seen a remarkable transformation. As we
continue to innovate, the future of communication is bound to be more exciting and amazing.
Thanks for your listening!

One possible version:
Daniel decided to help. He dressed warmly, picked up his snow shovel, and stepped into the cold. Without a
word, he walked to Mark’s driveway and began to clear the heavy snow. Soon, the sound of scraping echoed
through the quiet neighborhood. Inside, Mark’s wife noticed and quickly joined Daniel with a broom, brushing the
steps and path. Mark watched from the window, emotion tighteninghis chest. The sight of Daniel working steadily,
despite the past, made something shift inside him.
A snow-cleared driveway appeared before Mark and his family. Mark rolled to the door, the cold air rushing
in as he looked at the giant figure in the snow. “Thank you,” he said, simply, his voice uncertain but sincere. Daniel
gave a quiet nod, eyes soft but steady. Mark paused, then added, “I was wrong that day... tired or not, I shouldn’t
have yelled. I’m truly sorry about the roses, and everything.” Daniel’s gaze softened further. That evening, Mark’
s wife brought over dumplings; Daniel’s wife returned the gesture with slices of cake. The snow kept falling, but
between the two homes, warmth had quietly returned-built not by words, but by forgiveness and shared kindness.2026 届高考模拟卷·英语

When I arrived in Hefei, I was greeted by a familial curiosity that comes with my mixed background:
Brazilian born with a mother who carries the rich traditions of Luxembourg and Germany, and a father with values
rooted in the cultures of Italy and Portugal, making me a natural global citizen who respects and explores diverse
cultures. This city, where ancient traditions meet modern inventions, absorbs me, mirroring my inner thirst for
balance.
Since my childhood, China has stimulated my imagination. My father told bedtime stories of Marco Polo’s
Asian adventures, especially in China, and these stories excited my curiosity, making me eager to explore this
ancient and mysterious (神秘的) land with a history of over 5,000 years. I chose Hefei for its rich history and
welcoming nature, which remind me of my parents’ stories. It feels like home, a piece in the global cultural puzzle

In China, I was struck by the warmth of the people. Everywhere I go, I’m met with smiles and offers of help,
children approaching me, greeting me with excitement and eager to chat in English. This simple, sincere
friendliness has made me feel incredibly connected to this place.
Now, as a teacher in Hefei, I share my passion for learning with students from 33 different countries. It’s
magical to be both a teacher and a lifelong student in China. Every day, I learn from the wisdom of ancient
traditions or the fresh outlooks of my students. The Chinese’s eagerness to learn and respect for knowledge inspire
me.
Most importantly, living here has allowed me to accept my identity as a global citizen fully. I feel connected
to the world through shared human experiences beyond borders, and each interaction is an opportunity to enrich my
life’s story. Settling into Hefei, I’m filled with admiration and respect for Chinese culture and traditions, feeling it’s
a privilege (荣幸) to live in a place that offers new insights and experiences every day!

Fish may have their own version of empathy. In a study published in the journal Science, researchers say the
same mechanism responsible for human empathy might also be at play among fish. This suggests the human ability
to understand and share another’s feelings could have evolved much earlier than previously thought — around 450
million years ago, when fish and mammals split on the evolutionary tree.
Scientists have known that fear can spread throughout groups of fish in a phenomenon known as “emotional
contagion (传染) ”. This can be helpful if, for example, one fish spots a predator before others do — it can then
alert its peers by acting distressed. But until now, scientists weren’t sure which biological systems led fish to catch
onto another’s emotional state. To find out, they focused on zebrafish, which are often used in research. Scientists
concluded the hormone oxytocin (催产素), which helps regulate social behavior and empathy in mammals, may
also drive contagious fear in fish.
In one of their experiments, the team removed genes linked to oxytocin production from some zebrafish, then
let them observe other zebrafish that were acting afraid in another tank. Many of the genetically modified animals
did not respond to their peers’ fear, while a control group of normal fish did. Then, when the researchers injected
the genetically modified fish with oxytocin, they behaved more like the standard, unmodified fish and mirrored the
fright behaviors of their peers.
In another experiment, zebrafish appeared to pay more attention to videos of fish that had previously shown
distress, as opposed to videos of fish that always appeared calm. This suggests the fish may have been emotionally
connecting with their fearful peers — and possibly, researchers say, even trying to comfort them.
Finally, the researchers dissected (解剖) zebrafish brains and, after examining the tissue under a microscope,
found that the two areas most involved in emotional contagion were similar to the mammalian brain regions
associated with empathy.
The findings suggest that fish could be sentient, like humans and other species. “They have the ability to have
an emotional life,” says Hans Hofmann, a neurobiologist at the University of Texas at Austin who was not involved
in the research.
28. What does human-fish empathy similarity indicate
A. Fish lost the ability to feel emotions during evolution.
B. Mammals learned empathetic behavior by observing fish.
C. Fish may possess empathy-like abilities rooted in evolution.
D. Fish developed empathy separately after splitting from mammals.
29. What role does oxytocin play in zebrafish according to the study
A. It enhances their swimming speed. B. It shapes their response to peers’ fear.
C. It helps them detect predators faster. D. It reduces their need for social interaction.
30. How did the researchers reach their conclusion
A. By analyzing data. B. By making comparisons.
C. By building models. D. By conducting surveys.
31. The underlined word “sentient” in the last paragraph most likely means .
A. capable of physical adaptation B. dependent on group survival
C. skilled at avoiding predators D. able to perceive and feel emotions
D
While technological advancements have enhanced the convenience of urban commuting in recent years,
environmental studies reveal a worrying decline in urban green spaces, especially in densely populated districts.
Many residents complain that there’s insufficient access to nature-filled areas for relaxation and exercise, so they
end up spending more time indoors, relying on virtual entertainment.
Urban planners Lila Chen and Ryan Moore are deeply troubled by such issues. In their newly released book
Green Living: Reclaim Our Cities’ Natural Spaces, they call for a fundamental rethinking of urban design and the
role greenery should play in our daily lives.
The landscape of urban living began to shift decades ago. Vast areas of natural vegetation were cleared to
make room for sprawling concrete structures and commercial centers, forcing residents to seek nature in distant
suburbs. Some grassroots groups fought back. Most notably, a community organizer from Seattle, who relocated to
the city in the early 2000s, launched a movement to save a local wetlands area from being converted into a
shopping mall. Expressing her outrage at the planned destruction, Emily Clark appealed to the city council to
“Preserve Seattle as a city where nature and urban life coexist harmoniously, not just a place of concrete and
commerce.” Similar initiatives took place in other major cities across the country in the 2010s.
Although these initiatives gained public attention, the harsh reality is that the majority of modern cities remain
overwhelmingly dominated by urban development at the expense of green spaces. The coverage of natural areas in
cities has been shrinking steadily. In California, for instance, the ratio of urban green spaces to total city area has
dropped to a record low, even as the state promotes environmental protection campaigns.
We invest substantial resources in building urban infrastructure that prioritizes speed and efficiency, yet we
neglect to consider the true value of green spaces. Do we fully comprehend the social and psychological costs when
citizens lack easy access to natural environments for mental rejuvenation The authors of Green Living are spot-on:
it’s high time we reevaluate the urban landscapes right outside our homes.
32. What phenomenon does the author highlight in paragraph 1
A. Urban commuting has become overly dependent on technology.
B. The reduction of urban green spaces leads to lifestyle changes.
C. Virtual entertainment is replacing outdoor activities completely.
D. Residents in densely populated areas have limited access to jobs.
33. What were the Seattle community organizer and other activists attempting to achieve
A. Expand commercial development in urban areas.
B. Relocate residents to distant suburbs with more greenery.
C. Safeguard urban natural spaces for a balanced lifestyle.
D. Promote the construction of more shopping malls in wetlands.
34. What can be inferred about the initiatives in California in the 2010s
A. They successfully increased the ratio of urban green spaces.
B. They failed to reverse the trend of shrinking green areas.
C. They led to a surge in environmental protection donations.
D. They resulted in the closure of all commercial construction projects.
35. Which of the following would be the most appropriate title for the text
A. Urban Rush: Sacrificing Nature
B. Tech Advance: A Double-edged Sword
C. Green Spaces: A Luxury or Necessity
D. Community Activism: A Lost Cause

Studies show if you have good friends throughout your life, you will live longer. There is a lot of truth behind
the common saying. You must first be one if you want some good friends. Here are some tips you can refer to.
Be real. People are bored with those who are always trying to be someone they are not. People are most
comfortable around others who are comfortable in their own skin. 36 Even though you aren’t perfect, the way
you handle your strengths and faults with humility (谦逊) and confidence will give other people permission to be
real and relaxed with you, as well.
Be honest. Lies always have a way of coming to light. Try to be honest with everyone around you. Be reliable.
Nobody wants to be friends with someone who lies. 37
Be a good listener. 38 Most times, people need more than good advice. They need someone to listen to
them as they talk through their feelings. Ask them what’s going on in their life and how they feel.
Make time for your friends. Time is one of the greatest gifts we have. When we share extra time with friends,
we are giving that gift back to them. 39 It takes time. A real friend will take that time.
40 When you see your friends getting into a dangerous situation involved with drugs or alcohol, or maybe
even a harmful relationship, step in timely and protect your friends from the dangers you see that come their way.
A. So just be yourself.
B. Encourage your friends.
C. Care about your friends.
D. No friendship can develop overnight.
E. Also, friends will say the truth to each other, even when it’s hard.
F. Don’t give up on your friends just because they are having difficulties.
G. Don’t watch television or text while your friends are sharing something with you.

Mark and Daniel were next-door neighbors. Every summer, the two families held backyard barbecues
together, with Mark bringing homemade dumplings and Daniel’s wife preparing her famous cakes. During
holidays, they exchanged small but thoughtful gifts.
One June, Mark began building a new garden shed to store his tools. He hired a construction team that worked
quickly but not carefully. Large wooden boards and sharp nails were piled dangerously close to Daniel’s fence.
Daniel noticed that and warned the workers to be more careful, but the warning was brushed off.
Then it happened. A sudden summer storm hit the town. Strong winds knocked over the pile of wood. The
damage to Daniel’s garden was awful — his wife’s prized rose bushes, which she had been nurturing (培育) for
over fifteen years, were crushed and destroyed.
She was heartbroken. Failing to comfort her, Daniel stormed over to Mark’s house, demanding an apology and
help with the repairs. But Mark, who had just returned from work and was tired and stressed, felt wrongly accused.
“It’s not on purpose,” he said sharply. “You can’t blame me for the weather.”
“But it wouldn’t have happened if your workers had listened!” Daniel argued.
Voices were raised, fingers pointed, and neither side was willing to back down. That day, a long-standing
friendship cracked under pressure. From then on, they stopped greeting each other and even avoided eye contact.
Days passed. Seasons changed. But the cold silence remained.
Winter came. One day, Daniel caught a glimpse of Mark and noticed he was in a wheelchair with a cast (石膏)
on his leg. Daniel hesitated about going over but his feet remained.
A heavy snowstorm quietly arrived that night, blanketing the neighborhood in thick, icy snow. When morning
came, driveways were buried, and doors were nearly frozen shut. Men came out of their houses to clear the
driveways.
By the window Mark looked at his broken leg and sighed, “My responsibility! But now there’s no chance for
me to make it.”
At noon, Daniel noticed Mark’s driveway was still covered with thick snow.
