B(2025·陕西安康三模)
Rounding the corner of my neighbourhood park the other morning,I noticed a part of the landscape for the first time, though I’d walked the route for years. An old oak tree with a dozen big branches reaching the ground created a unique green curtain in the park.Groundskeepers placed a picnic table and benches inside, making it an outdoor room. Its cool shade and privacy were ideal for reading, chatting,or just relaxing.I mentally noted this scene,to cherish for the morning or maybe my whole life. What I’d encountered,I told myself as I wandered home, was my new happy place.
Robert Frost’s famous 1923 poem of “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” is about a traveller who pauses for a few moments beside a stretch of forest that’s “lovely, dark and deep”.The visitor wants to stay longer, but he’s pushed away by the prospect of “miles to go before I sleep”.This homes in on the essence(本质) of happy places—that they draw us precisely because we can’t live within them indefinitely.Obligation unavoidably calls us elsewhere.
But E.B.White,another of my favourite writers, pointed to a consoling(令人欣慰的) truth about the apparent short existence of happy places.Even when you can’t remain physically within a happy place, memory allows you to take it with you anywhere you go.“I have noticed that most men, when they enter a barber shop and must wait their turn, drop into a chair and pick up a magazine,” he wrote.“I simply sit down and pick up the thread of my sea wandering, which began more than fifty years ago and is not quite ended.” like Mr White’s imaginary returns to the waves near his farm for its amazing particularity. His visions confirm that happy places are,at their best, real places we’ve known.
My office computer has cheerful screen savers, but they’re not my happy places.A true happy place is a personal landmark.Happy places are more than dots on a map. They can become,in the wonder of remembrance,a geography of the heart.
4.Why does the author consider the oak tree area a happy place
A.It is a collection of rare plant species.
B.It is a historical monument preservation.
C.It is a popular picnic spot for the locals.
D.It is a practical space with natural privacy.
5.Why does the author quote Robert Frost’s poem
A.To criticise modern work pressures.
B.To imply better scenery on the road.
C.To illustrate the feature of happy places.
D.To explain the boredom of travelling.
6.What does E.B.White’s example emphasise about happy places
A.Memories make them accessible.
B.The physical presence is essential.
C.Coastal regions are universally ideal.
D.Daydreaming distracts people from reality.
7.According to the last paragraph, which of the following can be called a “geography of the heart”
A.A famous tourist attraction.
B.A strong emotional memory.
C.A professionally designed room.
D.A technologically preserved image.

(2025·山东临沂一模)
Sedimentary rock(沉积岩) is a type of rock that covers about three fourths of Earth’s land surface. 8 These layers can be seen clearly in steep rock walls.
There are many different kinds of sedimentary rock. 9 Some sedimentary rocks form as wind and water leave behind small bits of rock and sand.Others form from chemicals or from the remains of living things.
The most common kinds of sedimentary rock consist of deposits left behind by water. The water wears away rocks and carries away sand and small bits of rock. These minerals are deposited in many places.Over time, the deposits build up into layers. 10 The weight of the layers presses the bits of rock together.Water seeps through the layers, leaving minerals that cement the bits together to form rock.
Some of the rocks formed by wind and glaciers are loess and tillite. 11 This yellow rock covers large regions of the world.A rock made up of large bits of rock that have combined together is called tillite.
12 Chalk and coal are two kinds of rock that form in this way.Chalk forms from animal skeletons and shells that gather on the floor of the sea.Coal is formed from the remains of plants.Over time, the layers of dead matter become solid chalk and coal. All sedimentary rock takes thousands of years to form.
A.But they have different features.
B.Each kind forms in a different way.
C.Chalk and coal come from the same substances.
D.Sedimentary rock can even form from the remains of living things.
E.It is formed when minerals and other matter are deposited in layers.
F.Weak rock formed from the dust blown by the wind is called loess.
G.Over thousands of years, old layers of matter are covered by new layers.
