Maybe you already have something you love doing and just need more time for it. Or maybe you haven't found a hobby you really enjoy yet, and you'd like to try something new. A hobby is something fun you do in your free time, but not all hobbies are good for your health and happiness.
When choosing how to spend your time, think about how you feel afterward. Some people say looking at social media or watching shows is their hobby, but often they feel tired or empty after that.These activities may seem fun at first, but they can make you feel worse later. Dr Hafeez calls this“popcorn brain”—— jumping from app to app, always looking for something new. This habit can be bad for your brain in the long run and make it hard to stop.
Dr Kaiser says another problem with screen-based hobbies is that they usually keep you sitting for a long time, which can cause health problems over time.
So how do you pick a better hobby Dr Vuu suggests thinking about seven parts of a healthy life:sleep, food, movement, feelings, thoughts, relationships, and purpose. A good hobby can help with some of these. For example, doing group activities like yoga or running can help you move more, feel happy and make new friends. Helping others, like teaching or gardening, can make you feel useful and improve your mood.
There's no right number of hobbies to have. Some people focus on one; others enjoy many. The key is to try new things from time to time. New experiences are good for your brain and they help you connect with others too.
