Write descriptions of a “job soon to be history” and a “job of the future”.
Step 1
Think about an old job soon to be history, and a new job of the future. Use the following chart for help.
What does the worker do
Why will the job disappear
The worker sells movie tickets in a cinema.
Because most people buy tickets online or from machines now. Cinemas don’t need many ticket sellers anymore.
Job soon to be history:
Movie ticket seller
Activity 5
Write descriptions of a “job soon to be history” and a “job of the future”.
Step 1
Think about an old job soon to be history, and a new job of the future. Use the following chart for help.
What will the worker do
Why will the job become common
The worker will fix robots and make sure they can work properly.
Because in the future, robots will be used in many places like malls, restaurants, and streets. More robot caretakers will be needed.
Job of the future:
Robot caretaker
Step 2
Write the job descriptions.
Our world is changing fast because of technology. Some old jobs will go away, and new jobs will appear. Here are two examples.
Cinemas don’t need many ticket sellers because most people buy tickets online. It means some new jobs will spring up. One new job is a robot caretaker. The worker will fix robots and make sure they can work properly. We will need these workers because
robots will be everywhere in the future.
Change is normal. We should learn new things to
get ready for new jobs. If we keep learning, we will
be ready for the new world.
