While tea may have its origins in Asia, now it has found its way into their food culture and traditions in many countries. It is a special way of connecting people all over the world in different ways and ceremonies. That finally all results in a group of people sitting together and enjoying a
cup of tea.
Chinese tea culture
Since China is considered as the birthplace of tea, it is no wonder that Chinese tea culture is rich in history and tradition. Today, Chinese tea continues to be used in Chinese medicine and is
commonly used on both formal and informal occasions either for personal enjoyment or as a Chinese cultural tradition.
Japanese tea culture
Japan also has a long history with tea, especially Japanese Matcha, which is a kind of
ground green tea. Japanese tea is commonly used in Japanese tea ceremonies and only in recent years has become popular in western culture.
British tea culture
When it comes to British tea, British tea culture is what comes to mind. A hot cup of Earl Grey tea often serves with a little milk and a biscuit in the afternoon as a pick-me-up for the day, which makes you feel better and more energetic. Even though tea may not be native to England, this British tea tradition is still going strong today.
Moroccan tea culture
When you visit Morocco, it is hard to miss the outstanding tea culture that is such a special way to welcome guests. Before any gathering, a pot of mint(薄荷)tea is always prepared and
served among the host and guests. This is an expression of Moroccan tradition and kindness, which should always be accepted by guests as a sign of appreciation and respect to the host.

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Laughter is the best medicine.” Comedy on Referral has taken that idea and run with it, using stand-up comedy to help treat people struggling with trauma (精神创伤) and anxiety in partnership with the National Health Service (NHS).
The idea came from comedian Angie Belcher’s experiences teaching comedy at the
University of Bristol. She found that students often told her how much stronger and more resilient (有适应力的) they were thanks to stand-up comedy.
Inspired, she teamed up with the NHS in Bristol to create a six-week comedy course for patients struggling with trauma in January 2022. Following the success of this initial course,
Comedy on Referral won NHS funding to help men with trauma in London.
Belcher said, “Past traumas are perfect for comedy. Comedy doesn’t come from the happy, perfect moments of your life, but from our everyday struggles and major life events. People
who’ve been through big life experiences such as losing a loved one and ill health often can’t wait to tell me their stories, mostly because there’s always something especially funny about the
situation.”
Research has shown that laughter has positive psychological effects, such as decreasing levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) and increasing endorphins (the hormone that reduces the

feeling of pain). It can even have physiological benefits, although less research has been done in this area. Current research has linked laughter and humour with increased levels of pain tolerance as well as short-term cardiovascular (心血管的) benefits. More research is needed to prove these findings
Nonetheless, the mental health benefits of regular laughter are widely accepted, and using comedy to treat mental health struggles could be a real breakthrough in the treatment of mental health.
4 .Why is the phrase mentioned in paragraph 1
A .To explain the harm trauma causes. B .To stress the importance of laughter.
C.To show the effect of stand-up comedy. D.To state the idea behind Comedy on Referral.
5 .How was the first six-week comedy course for patients
A .Effective. B .Ambiguous. C .Fruitless. D .Controversial.
6 .What may contribute to a comedy according to Belcher
A .Struggling moments. B .Funny moments.
C .Successful moments. D .Boring moments.
7 .What is the best title for the text
A .Comedy is one thing that can make you struggle B .Laughter is useful for people’s mental health
C .Anxiety can also make you feel better D .Laughter will cure you of all diseases

Monarch butterflies (帝王蝶) are edging dangerously close to extinction despite a decision late last year to remove the orange-and-black insects from the endangered species list, a new study has found.
An annual survey led by the World Wildlife Fund(WWF)of the species wintering in central Mexico found the second-lowest number of monarch butterflies on record, meaning they took up just 2.2 acres of regional forests, 59% less than during the 2022 — 2023 winter season. The
findings are troubling to scientists determined to protect the species.
Each year, monarch butterflies migrate (迁徙) thousands of miles from southern Canada and the northern and central US to the mountain forests of central Mexico. They require a large
试卷第 5 页,共 13 页
and healthy forest to protect them from winds, rain and low temperatures in the areas where they migrate for winter. Yet because of heat and drought brought on by climate change, scientists say, their natural habitat is quickly depleting. Scientists with the WWF considered this winter season’s findings serious and said they represented the second-smallest area taken up by monarch
butterflies in Mexico since 1993.
What’s worse, in recent years, their breeding areas in Canada and the US have seen a
reduction in milkweed leaves where female monarch butterflies lay their eggs. “Land-use changes in the United States, combined with the widespread use of chemicals, also contributed to the loss of milkweed and other plants that adult monarch butterflies feed on,” the WWF said.
Monarch butterflies play an important role in maintaining plant ecosystems and are also an important food source for birds, small animals and other insects, according to the National Park Service. It’s necessary that all governments, communities, scientists, and others continue to
strengthen our protection efforts to support their unique migration.
8 .Why do monarch butterflies fly to central Mexico each year
A .To spend winter. B .To lay eggs.
C .To search for shelter. D .To escape from enemies.
9 .What does the underlined word “depleting” in paragraph 3 mean
A .Shifting. B .Disappearing. C .Recovering. D .Increasing.
10 .What may have nothing to do with the reduction in monarch butterflies’ number
A .The loss of food sources.
B .The widespread use of chemicals.
C .The land-use changes in the United States.
D .The threat of being eaten by other animals.
11 .What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A .To raise people’s awareness about climate change.
B .To call for more measures to protect monarch butterflies.
C .To inform people of the serious situation of monarch butterflies.
D .To prove monarch butterflies should be on the endangered species list.

Online literature is believed to have first gained a significant foothold in the Chinese
mainland. Started domestically in the 1990s, Chinese online literature has been booming globally over the past two decades. Whether it be online releases or physical book publications, works in Mandarin only to be spontaneously translated by enthusiasts are a growing phenomenon.
The establishment of online reading platforms and the setup of overseas localization and
development ecosystems have led to Chinese online literature continuously expanding its global
influence. It is now described as one of the world’s four major cultural phenomena, along with US Hollywood movies, Japanese animation and South Korean TV dramas.
Featuring magnificent imagination, fascinating plots and compelling stories, it is drawing a growing mass of readers from all over the world. According to a report released by the
ChinaWriters Association last April, Chinese online literature has captivated nearly 200 million
active overseas users, 80 percent of whom are Generation Z readers — those born between the
mid-1990s and early 2000s — from most countries and regions worldwide. Another report
released by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association in December revealed that in 2023, China’s online literature industry earned 4.35 billion yuan ($597 million) from
international markets, up 7 percent year-on-year.
“The charm of Chinese online literature is boundless. It goes beyond the limitations of
traditional literature, breaking cultural barriers to resonate with readers around the world. As
someone from faraway Italy, I’ ve found deep emotional connection and inspiration in these
works. Themes like the pursuit of dreams and the fight for justice are universal, uniting people across cultures,” said Carlo Maria Rossi, a stage designer and multidisciplinary creative director from Rome and a big fan of the popular Chinese web novel Lord of Mysteries.
Currently, Chinese online literature is crossing more boundaries and exploring a new path of going global. With a focus on “global co-creation on intellectual property”, online literature
writers from different nations and regions are joining hands in fostering and developing their web novel IPs, creating a new wave of the globalization of literature while promoting cultural
understanding and exchanges.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
It’s happened to all of us: a song comes on the radio, and we are immediately transported back to a time in our past. 16
There are a few things that connect tunes with our memories. Music is often a necessary element of many important life events, and it is also very effective in arresting our attention.
17 Besides, the emotional nature of music helps make it particularly memorable.
We often become familiar with a piece of music because we hear it as background music. The more familiar a piece of music is, the more effective it is in bringing back memories.
18 The reason is that we are far more likely to hear a song over and over again than to watch a film or a TV programme in the same way.
Tiffany Jenkins, writing for a culture column, has a different opinion: 19 She tells us how throughout history oral cultures have passed important knowledge from generation to

generation through songs because of this characteristic. The rhythm (韵律) and rhyme in lines of songs all serve as memory aids.
20 This fact corresponds with what many experts call the “reminiscence bump
(怀旧性记忆)”, where older adults (over forty) have increased recollection of events that occurred during their adolescence and early adulthood.
It’s clear that our memories and music are closely linked — to the point that music is being used to help Alzheimer’s disease sufferers access memories that they thought they had lost.
A .Familiarity is important.
B .Music itself is easy to remember.
C .But what makes music so effective in doing this
D .Our musical preference usually forms during our teens.
E .This applies to music more than other cultural products.
F .Pop music especially can be connected with an important memory.
G .Music and these life events are likely to be linked together in our memories.
