Qingshen County in Sichuan Province is known as the hometown of China's bamboo weaving (编织)art. Today many local people are still good at it.
Zhang Deming is among them. Zhang learned bamboo weaving skills at the age of four. In his hands, green bamboo is cut into thin and soft strips(条)after more than 10 steps. Then, he uses
these bamboo strips to weave beautiful and useful products.
Zhang’s works have won prizes at home and abroad. Many of them have been chosen as
national gifts for foreign leaders and important events such as the Asian Games in 1990 and the Summer Olympics in 2008 in Beijing.

His success came for a reason. Once a craftsman working for Zhang made a mistake and used bamboo strips that were 0.45 mm wide to weave tea products for a brand. But the brand required
the use of strips with a width of 0.43 mm. When Zhang found that, he asked the craftsman to do it all over again.

Noise-canceling headphones (耳机) bring you a quiet world, but using them for too long might be bad for your brain, says The New York Post.
Doctors from the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) have seen more young people having “ear problems” . These problems include having trouble understanding speech or needing subtitles (字幕) to watch videos. However, their ears are healthy. In fact, the problem is actually in their brains. This problem is known as auditory processing disorder (APD). People with APD can hear sounds but find it hard to understand them.
“To make our hearing work well, our brains need to choose which sounds to pay special attention to and which to overlook. We get the skill when we hear different sounds. If we don’t hear different kinds of sounds, we can lose this skill,” said NHS doctors. Noise-canceling headphones take away these different sounds, which might be part of the problem.
An expert said that wearing these headphones creates a “false environment” . In it, you only hear what you want. This makes things easier for your brain, so it doesn’t have to work as hard.
Noise travels in waves through air and water. Noise-canceling headphones stop these waves in two ways: One is to use things like special ear covers. The other is to use a microphone to cancel out noise with opposite sound waves(声波).
This technology can be harmful if you use it too much. However, it is still helpful for people working in noisy places.
( )51.According to the article, what problem do people with APD have
A. They cannot hear any sounds.
B. They find it hard to understand sounds.
C. Their ears hurt when they hear loud noises.
D. They find it difficult to hear sounds clearly.
( )52. In which sentence can we put the underlined word “overlook”
A.In general, houses that the lakes cost more.
B. Her boss would her because of her laziness.
C. The businesses that this fact will risk losing the market.
D. He will be highly because his excellent performance.
( )53. What do you do in a “false environment”
A. You hear different sounds.
B. Your brain doesn’t need to work hard.
C. You get much practice to improve your hearing.
D. You don’t catch what you want or need to hear.
( )54.Why is using noise-canceling headphones for long harmful
A. The brain may lose its ability to process different sounds.
B. Most people may lose their ability to hear different sounds.
C. The headphones might stop creating opposite sound waves.
D.You have no other way to enjoy the beauty of music.
( )55.What’s the writing purpose of the text
A. To inspire readers to create better headphones.
B.To explain how noise-canceling headphones work.

My good friend Johnson and I enjoy cycling in our spare time. Last weekend, we decided to go for a bike ride around the nearby countryside. You know, just to get away from the busy school life and the noise of the city for a bit. As we were riding, we came across a small garden. It was full of apple trees, and the owner was there picking apples. We stopped to say hello and talked with him for a while. The owner was an old man named Mr. Smith. He was so friendly and invited us to try some apples. They were the sweetest apples I had ever tasted! Then, Mr. Smith told us that he was having a bit of trouble getting all the full-blown apples picked before the weather turned bad. We looked at each other and decided to help him. We spent the rest of the afternoon picking apples, and it was so much fun! We even learned some planting skills from Mr. Smith. After we finished, Mr. Smith was so excited that he gave us a big bag of apples to take home. We exchanged our phone number and since then we have become very good friends. Sometimes, the little things in life can bring us great happiness. And it's always nice to lend a helping hand to those in need.
