Have you ever tried to read books from different countries At the start of this year, I, Zhang Kai, decided to read as many as I could. I began with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain—my first step into American literature.
It was a custom in my home to read before bed, but this was different. This book wasn't just a story; it was a window into another world. When I received the book as a gift from my English teacher, I was excited but also a little embarrassed—I had never read a full-length English novel before.

Stewart Hansen came from New Zealand. He became one of Shenzhen's Top 10 Volunteers for 2022.
Hansen came to Shekou and lived there in 2016. Soon he became a volunteer of Shekou Management and Service centre for Expats (旅居国外者) (Shekou MSCE). He spent several hours each week helping others. He helped make English guides, write English notices and train workers. What he did helped a lot. Many people from other countries got useful information about living and working in Shenzhen.
Now Hansen works in Shekou international community. He plays a part in making the community better. He gives English classes to children for free. Also, he often helps people from other countries living in Shekou know about the community.
