In a family’s vegetable garden, there was a big rock that people often tripped over and got hurt. One day, the son asked, “Dad, why don’t we dig out that awful stone ” The father replied, “That rock has been there since your grandfather’s time. It’s huge, and I have no idea how long it would take to dig it out. Instead of wasting time trying to remove it, it’s better to just be careful around it.”
Years later, the boy grew up, got married and became a father himself. One day, his daughter said, “Dad, I really hate that big rock in the vegetable garden. Let’s find someone to move it someday.” The father said, “No way! That rock is really heavy. If it could be moved, it would have been gone when I was a kid.”
The daughter was upset because she’d tripped over it many times. So she decided to solve the problem. One morning, she took a hoe (锄头) and a bucket of water. She poured water around the rock to soften the soil and waited for 10 minutes. Then, she used the hoe to make the soil soft. She thought it would take all day to dig it out, but to her surprise, it only took a few minutes. The rock wasn’t as big as they had thought. They had all been fooled by how big it seemed.
This shows that the things we think are holding us back are often made bigger by our own worries. Sometimes, it is the “stubborn (顽固的) stones” in our minds that stop us from discovering new solutions and opportunities.

C. She broke the rock into pieces. D. She moved the rock with friends.
29.Which of the following best describes the daughter
A. Smart and brave. B. Friendly but crazy. C. Quiet and kind. D. Serious but lazy.
30.What can we learn from the story
A. Hard work always pays off. B. Don’t waste time on small things.
C. We should listen to others’ advice. D. Don’t let worries stop us from trying.

Wu Hongbo, a visitor from Dalian, recently used AI to plan a tour of Shanxi. By telling the AI app about his travel plans, he received a week-long plan made just for him covering transportation, places of interest and hotel information.
As a martial arts (武术) novel fan, Wu had long dreamed of visiting Yanmen Pass, a part of the Great Wall featured in his favorite stories. The app recommended (推荐) just that, alongside other cool cultural spots and local dishes. “This AI plan surprised me,” Wu said. “The recommendations perfectly matched my taste, deepening my understanding of Shanxi.”
As travelers look for trips that fit their personal interests, AI “digital (电子的) guides” are helping to make travel planning faster and of higher quality. On Chinese social media (媒体), plans such as “DeepSeek’s five-day trip to Shandong” and “AI’s two-day trip to Chengdu” are becoming very popular. During a trip, AI can also give real-time guidance. With voice and location technology, the AI guide is just like a personal guide. It tells visitors the history, culture and special features of the places of interest.
Liu Xilei, a visitor from Hebei province, did not ask for a human tour guide when he visited the Jinci Temple in Taiyuan. Instead, he used the AI chatbot Doubao as his tour guide. Liu said he learned a lot about the temple’s history, buildings and culture. The travel app Mafengwo has started an “AI Local Guide” programme. It asks local people who have lived there for over five years to train the AI, giving each guide its own local style. For example, the AI in Fujian recommends small restaurants with ginger duck, while the one in Guizhou helps people find the best spicy food.
“These AI tour guides show the true spirit of a city.” said Mafengwo’s Sun Yunlei. “In the future, AI tour guides will work with human guides. Together, they will provide better and more personal travel services and make trips more wonderful.” said Li Xinjian from Beijing International Studies University.
31.Why was Wu Hongbo shocked about the AI travel plan
A. Because it lowered his travel cost. B. Because it fit his interests perfectly.
C. Because it shortened his travel time. D. Because it covered all tourist hotspots.
32.What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 2 refer to
A. A week-long travel plan. B. Martial arts novel.
C. Visiting Yanmen Pass. D. Using the AI app.
33.How does Mafengwo train its AI guides
A. By collecting tourists’ reviews. B. By inviting travel experts to help.
C. By studying historical travel data. D. By using local people’s wisdom.
34.What is Li Xinjian’s view on AI tour guides
A. They enrich tourist experiences. B. They reduce travel risks greatly.
C. They compete with human guides. D. They make places of interest popular.
35.What is the text mainly about
A. How to use AI chatbots in daily life. B. Where to find AI chatbots in travel.
C.AI travel plans are popular on social media. D.AI helps make travel easier and more personal.
D
Have you ever had a bad day and been told, “You’ll feel better in the morning” Well, science says that might actually be true!
A study from the University College London (UCL) found that people generally feel better in the morning and worse at night. This research offers clear evidence that our emotions follow a daily cycle we may not fully understand. The study looked at nearly 1 million survey replies from 50,000 adults over two years. Researchers asked people questions like, “In the past week, how happy did you feel ” and “How satisfied have you been with your life ” The large number of participants (参加者) made the results highly reliable. They found that happiness, life satisfaction and general well-being were highest for people who answered the survey in the morning. But the feeling decreased as the day went on, reaching its lowest point around midnight.
Scientists believe our body’s biological clock plays a big role in this. It controls when we wake up and when we feel sleepy, and it also influences our mood. Cortisol (皮质醇), a hormone (荷尔蒙) that controls mood and emotions, is at its highest in the morning and drops at night. This could explain why people feel better at the start of the day and worse later on.
Other factors (因素) can also influence our mood. For example, our daily routines, work and social lives change between weekdays and weekends, and that can influence how we feel. This is also supported by the study’s findings, because happiness and life satisfaction were higher on Mondays and Fridays than on Sundays. And Tuesdays were the happiest day of the week. Seasons influence our mood as well — people feel happier and less worried in spring, summer and autumn compared to winter. However, the time of day still influences our mood, no matter the season.
These findings could help mental health services, says UCL’s Feifei Bu. If people feel worse at night, she said, more support should be available during those hours.
36.What do we know about the study from UCL
A. It lasted for less than one year in London.
B. It asked 50,000 adults for information.
C. It showed people felt worst on Friday nights.
D. It studied the mood changes of 1 million adults.
37.What does the underlined word “decreased” mean in paragraph 2
A. Disappeared. B. Failed. C. Passed. D. Dropped.
38.What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. How social activities improve people’s health.
B. Why cortisol, a hormone controls emotions.
C. What influences people’s mood changes.
D. How the researchers do the study on feelings.
39.How does the writer develop paragraph 4
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving examples. C. By asking questions D. By telling stories.
40.What can be a suitable title for the text
A. Rise and Shine: Why Mornings Make You Happier
B. Happy Days: How Weekdays Influence Our Feelings
C. Warm Seasons: Why We Feel Better in Spring
D. Nighttime Worries: How to Sleep Well Every Day
第二节 阅读七选五(共 5 个小题;每小题 2 分,满分 10 分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Would you like to improve your memory To start with, it is important to understand how memory works. 41 Short-term memory helps you remember things that you only need for a short time, like phone numbers for a call. Long-term memory is the ability to remember things for days, years, or even a lifetime. So the key question is: How do you make sure what you learn enters your long-term memory By using some clever memory techniques (技巧) and leading a healthy life, you will see some great results. Let’s take a look.
First, pay attention. However, you might fail to remember all the information. So, try taking notes and writing down key points. After all, it is easier to remember a summary than every word in a passage. 42 It means the more you review what you learn, the more likely you will remember it. However, you should not wear out your brain. Try studying for 40 minutes, and then take a break. 43 Another way is to make use of senses. Use tables, graphs, and mind maps to create images and organize information. You can also turn information into a story and “watch” it in your mind like a film. Besides, use other senses. 44
Last but not least, boost (提升) your memory by staying healthy. 45 While you sleep, your brain organizes your memories. Bad sleep makes it harder for new information to enter your long-term memory. What’s more, eat well. Your brain needs food like an engine needs fuel. Healthy food and drink will help your brain work much better.
A. Second, remember an important rule—use it or lose it. B. Many students find it hard to remember short-term information. C. Sleeping well plays an important role in improving your memory. D. You can also review by discussing with others or by teaching others. E. For example, listening to recorded information can be very effective. F. Many students often fail to get enough rest during the daytime and feel tired. G. There are two main kinds of memory: short-term memory and long-term memory.
