用作主句状语的从句,叫做状语从句,根据它表达的意思可分为时间、原因、条件、比较、结果、目的和让步等类型。
语法精讲
状语从句
状语从句是用一个句子来充当主句的状语,用来修饰主句中的动词、形容词或副词,说明动作发生的时间、原因、条件、结果、目的、让步、方式或地点等。
状语从句的基本结构:
1.状语从句的连词不充当主句成分,只起连接作用。
2.主句和从句都要有完整的主谓结构。
3.若主句是一般将来时,从句要用一般现在时表将来(主将从现原则)。
“主句+连词+从句”或“连词 +从句+ 主句”(从句在前时,用逗号和主句隔开)
注意:
1.although引导的让步状语从句
We enjoyed our holiday, although it rained a lot.
尽管常常下雨,但是我们仍然很享受我们的假期。
Although she’s wrong,it’s not a big deal.
尽管她不对,但这也不是什么大不了的事。
小结:
although引导的从句,意为“虽然,尽管,即使”,可以与 though互换。although可以放在句首,也可以放在居中,但是不能与but连用。
2.until引导的时间状语从句
I studied English until 9 o’clock last night. 我昨晚学英语一直学到9点钟。
小结:until引导时间状语从句用于肯定句时,意为“直到……为止”,主句中的谓语动词用延续性动词。
注意:主句用一般将来时,从句要用一般现在时表示将来。
I won’t play basketball until I finish my homework.
My daughter didn’t go to bed until I got back home. 直到我回家我女儿才去睡觉。
小结: until引导时间状语从句用于否定句时,意为“直到······才······”,主句中的谓语动词常用非延续性动词,也可用延续性动词。
3.so that引导的目的状语从句
Let me remind you once again so that you won’t forget.
我再说一遍,省得你忘了。
I took a taxi so that I could get there earlier.
我坐了出租车,以便早点到那里。
小结:
so that意为“为了,以便”,引导目的状语从句,相当于in order that,表示动机(即一种可能性),而非事实。因此,从句中常带有can, will , could, would, should等情态动词。
4.if引导的条件状语从句
If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, we will go to the park.
如果明天不下雨,我们就去公园。
If you are an animal-lover, you may feel sad about it.
如果你是动物爱好者,你可能会为此感到难过。
小结:
if引导的条件状语从句中,无论主句用一般将来时、情态动词还是祈使句,从句均用一般现在时。
注意:不能用be going to表将来,只能用shall / will。
