Christmas time with kids is filled with warm traditions: Listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree, going to look at Christmas lights with hot chocolate in hand, and taking the
kids to visit Santa Claus. Well, delete that last one. At least for my family.
Parents think about how fun it will be at first to take their kids to see Santa, or tell them
gifts are on their way from Santa, but this comes with a series of annoying questions about Mr.
Claus like how he makes it to all the houses in one night, as well as the broken trust after revealing the truth. I didn’t want that.
You may think that our Christmases were rigid, stuffy, and without any warmth or magic. I don’t think so. Part of that is due to what I taught my kids about Christmas. Instead of telling them Santa is real, I told them it most likely has its origins in St. Nicholas, a man who was kind and
generous to children in need. Netflix’s 2021 movie “A Boy Called Christmas” is a useful tool for helping kids connect Christmas myths and traditions with reality while keeping the spirit of
generosity alive.
The month of December is filled with movie and game nights, plays and concerts. These
family traditions have added flavor to my kids’ entire childhood. Hopefully, they know now that it’s the time with family, doing special things together, that creates the magic and that my love for
them goes well beyond just one day — and that magic, wonder and awe can happen any time with family, especially if we remain generous and grateful.
My kids are older now, and they’re glad they didn’t believe the myth of Santa. It was one fewer bad memory for them, one fewer blow to their innocent childhood.
4 .What is special for the author’s family’s Christmas time?
A .Appreciating Christmas lights. B .skipping visiting Santa Claus.

A .To prove that the Santa myth is not necessary for Christmas.
B .To explain why family entertainments are popular in December.
C .To show that Christmas is the most magical festival for families.
D .To stress that shared family time is the core of Christmas’ charm.
7 .Which of the following can best describe the author?
A .Rigid but caring. B .Generous and devoted.
C .Distant but unconventional. D .Thoughtful and insightful.

Cristiano Ronaldo sits on his bed, reminding himself that “sleep is the most important tool that I have,” and that a disciplined routine shapes his performance. The fitness-tracking band on his wrist reflects the close attention he gives to his body. But this once-specialized habit has
gradually moved beyond professional sports, becoming part of the lives of ordinary people who want a clearer sense of their health condition.
Many wearables on the market provide reliable heart-rate tracking and basic physiological (生理的) data, sufficient for general everyday monitoring. Some advanced models, however, go
further. They show how habits like late-night eating or drinking directly influence recovery and
readiness for the next day. Rather than offering separate data points, these devices track how small changes build up over time, revealing behavioral patterns that shape overall health trends.
Health specialist Jess Whitmore says wearables have become essential tools for top
athletes, who now consult their data as naturally as they tie their boots. Yet not everyone
welcomes this shift toward constant monitoring. Sports dietitian Jess McGregor warns that the
expectation to “train like an athlete” can push ordinary people toward perfectionism and anxiety. The urge to improve everything — sleep scores, readiness ratings, daily stress — can make lives center around numbers. While these numbers offer insight, they cannot replace subjective
awareness of energy, emotions or recovery needs. “Everything is being digitized and reduced to numbers,” McGregor says.
Perhaps that is the quiet reminder hidden beneath all the data. “When numbers begin to
shadow our days, the watch on our wrist can make us forget the body’s gentler signals,” says Dr. Zachary Walston. He adds, “Living a healthy life still means adding enjoyable habits, like evening walks or taking the stairs, and appreciating the pleasure and freedom they bring, rather than
simply chasing device targets.”
8 .What can we learn about fitness tracking from paragraph 1?
A .It controls sports training routines.
B .It is adopted to treat sleep disorders.
C .It is common among ordinary people.
D .It guarantees top athletic performance.
9 .What makes advanced wearables different from other products?
A .They are designed specifically for night eating.
B .They offer separate and independent data points.
C .They reveal connections between habits and health.
D .They provide rich and solid physiological information.
10 .What is Jess McGregor worried about regarding using wearables?
A .Reduced enjoyment in daily routines.
B .Lack of timely professional guidance.
C .Physical injuries from training too hard.
D .Mental pressure from chasing numbers.
11 .What does Dr. Zachary Walston suggest people do?
A .Listen to your physical signals. B .Predict body responses from data.
C .Abandon fitness tracking devices. D .Set clear targets for daily exercise.

The toy industry is pushing forward with AI chatbots built into stuffed animals and mini robots. These toys are flexible enough to conduct limited conversations with children and to
respond to them just as they finish talking. Are these interactions enough to provide the
“personalized education” one company claimed? Will toys like Curio’s Grem help or harm children’s language development?
The more language that is addressed to children, the bigger their vocabulary will be. But these vocabulary words are not learned because they were spoken out of context, as current
AI-infused toys do, but from caregivers who make the words come alive. Research shows that chatbot talk is unlikely to improve young children’s language outcomes. In fact, if allowed to replace conversations with caregivers, these toys may impede children’s language learning.
When a caregiver describes something that a child is interested in, children can learn its
name. A chatbot is less able to teach children about their environments because it cannot see and describe a toy the child is holding. Even if it could see, it does not have prior knowledge about the toys a child owns. Language skills do not grow from simply hearing lots of words — they grow
from hearing words in conversations that capture the child’s attention.
Finally, children are also seeking further information about the sounds of their language.
The caregivers’ repetition of the word emphasizes its name while also giving the child more
information about the sound of the word. If the child mispronounces the word, the caregiver will
likely emphasize the correct pronunciation. Commercially available chatbots can’t reliably do this.
Quality language expands on what toddlers (学步的儿童) know, takes the child’s
perspective and past history into consideration, and responds to children’s questions. We have
seen some work that shows social robots can help preschool children learn vocabulary, and that
conversational agents who ask older children to respond to educational television programs can
help children learn. However, we need more research to know the effects these robots have on
babies’ and toddlers’ language learning. Until that happens, we believe that the humans in
toddlers’ lives are responsible for conducting the conversations that grow children’s language. As a researcher and his teammates state, “Our babies shouldn’t be lab mice for toy companies.”
12 .What is the function of the first paragraph?
A .To point out a problem. B .To present a phenomenon.
C .To put forward the viewpoint. D .To introduce the topic.
13 .What does the underlined word “impede” in paragraph 2 mean?
A .Prevent. B .Facilitate. C .Secure. D .Maintain.
14 .What can a caregiver do to help children learn a language?
A .Provide interaction in context. B .Emphasize their names.
C .Weaken their attention. D .Repeat grammar rules.
15 .Which of the following is the best title of the passage?
A .Is It Necessary to Interact with Caregivers?
B .Will AI-Powered Toys Be a New Toy Trend?

We all experience moments like this: a friend doesn’t reply to your message, or someone walks right past you without noticing. Most people move on quickly, but for those who are
sensitive to rejection, these small moments feel heavy. 16 .
Rejection sensitivity means often expecting others to reject you, even when there is no real sign of it. People who think this way pay too much attention to others’ words, tone, or silence. A late reply can feel like “They don’t like me,” and a serious face may seem like “They’re upset
with me.” Because of this fear, they try to protect themselves by avoiding eye contact, keeping
quiet, or pulling away. 17 — sometimes creating the very rejection they were afraid of. The good news is that gentle, intentional habits can help.
Challenge your first reaction. Feelings are not facts. When your mind jumps to the worst explanation, pause and ask: What else could this mean? 18 . Try writing down at least two neutral (中性的) possibilities before accepting the negative one. This simple practice helps calm emotional overreaction.
Express your needs openly. People with rejection sensitivity often hide their feelings,
hoping others will understand without being told. 19 . Try speaking clearly and kindly:
“When I didn’t hear back, I felt a bit unsure. Could we talk later?” Honest communication builds trust and reduces unnecessary worry.
20 . If someone reaches out to you, offer a small sign of openness — a smile, a short reply, or a simple “thank you.” These small gestures show that you welcome connection. Over time, they help soften the habit of pulling away.
A .Pursue stronger bonds with others
B .But silence easily causes confusion
C .Respond warmly when others show care
D .They are always searching for ways to relieve their anxiety
E .Sadly, this distance can make them seem cold or unfriendly
F .They may immediately assume something is wrong with them
G .Perhaps the other person is busy, stressed, or simply distracted

My name is Mae. I’ve always been passionate about exploring and solving problems — whether fixing a broken toy or figuring out how a phone app works. This led me to join our
school’s Coding (编程) Club. In our first lesson, Ms. Davis told us that coding is more than writing lines of code. It is about using technology to make life easier for others.
“Your project,” she announced in class one day, “is to create a simple app that solves a
real-life problem.” “You have one week to prepare,” She added gently, hoping this would give us enough time to find inspiration and finish the project.
The challenge stayed with me as I walked to my neighbor Mrs. Thompson’s apartment after school. She had invited me for tea, as she often did on Tuesdays. Mrs. Thompson was kind and
cheerful, but lately she had been a little forgetful, often misplacing her keys or repeating the same story twice without realizing it. When I arrived, she was in the kitchen.
“Mae! Good timing,” she greeted me warmly, and then stopped, glancing at the kettle. “Did I already boil water for tea?”
I checked the kettle — it was still warm. We laughed about it as I poured water, and soon we were chatting. Our conversation turned to her weekly book club with friends. Mrs. Thompson smiled, talking about her two old friends. Mr. Brown arrived late for the game, and Mrs. Smith
failed to bring her glasses twice. “We’re quite a group,” she said.
Then her expression grew thoughtful. “We manage, of course. But sometimes I think
wouldn’t it be nice if something simply reminds us? Take medicine. Water the plants. Friday for book club.” She tapped her head with a soft laugh.
Her words sank in. At that moment, an idea formed in my mind. As I stood up to leave, I smiled mysteriously, “Give me a few days, and I’ll bring you a little surprise.”
“Oh? I’ll try not to forget that,” she laughed.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为 150 个左右;

根据第一段中“Christmas time with kids is filled with warm traditions: Listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree, going to look at Christmas lights with hot chocolate in hand, and taking the kids to visit Santa Claus. Well, delete that last one. At least for my family. (与孩子们一起度过的圣诞节充满了温馨的传统:装饰圣诞树时听圣诞音乐,手捧热巧克力去看圣诞灯饰,带孩子们去拜访圣诞老人。嗯,删掉最后一项。至少对我的家人来说是这样)”可知,作者家庭的特别之处在于跳过了拜访圣诞老人这一项。故选 B 项。
5.推理判断题。根据第三段“You may think that our Christmases were rigid, stuffy, and without any warmth or magic. I don’t think so. Part of that is due to what I taught my kids about
Christmas. Instead of telling them Santa is real, I told them it most likely has its origins in St.
Nicholas, a man who was kind and generous to children in need. Netflix’s 2021 movie “A Boy
Called Christmas” is a useful tool for helping kids connect Christmas myths and traditions with
reality while keeping the spirit of generosity alive.(你或许以为我们的圣诞节刻板拘谨,缺乏温

故选 A 项。
根据第四段中“Hopefully, they know now that it’s the time with family, doing special things together, that creates the magic and that my love for them goes well beyond just one day — and that magic, wonder and awe can happen any time with family, especially if we remain generous and grateful. (希望他们现在明白,是家人共度的时光,一起做特别的事情,创造了魔力,而我对他们的爱远不止一天——魔力、奇迹和敬畏可以随时与家人一起发生,尤其是当我们保持慷慨和感恩之心时)”可知,作者提到“圣诞节的魔力”是为了强调家人共度的时光才是圣诞节魅力的核心。故选 D 项。
7.推理判断题。通读全文,结合第一段中“Christmas time with kids is filled with warm traditions: Listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree, going to look at Christmas lights with hot chocolate in hand, and taking the kids to visit Santa Claus. Well, delete that last one. At least for
my family. 至少对我的家人来说是这样)”以及第三段中“Instead of telling them Santa is real, I told them it most likely has its
origins in St. Nicholas, a man who was kind and generous to children in need. (我没有给他们说圣诞老人是真的,而是告诉他们圣诞老人很可能起源于圣尼古拉斯,一个对贫困儿童友善和慷慨的人)”和第四段中“Hopefully, they know now that it’s the time with family, doing special
things together, that creates the magic

professional sports, becoming part of the lives of ordinary people who want a clearer sense of their health condition.(但这种曾经专门的习惯已逐渐超越职业体育,成为那些想要更清楚了解自己健康状况的普通人生活的一部分。)”
根据第二段“Some advanced models, however, go further. They show how habits like late-night eating or drinking directly influence recovery and readiness for the next day.(然而,一些先进的型号更进一步。它们展示了深夜进食或饮酒等习惯如何直接影响第二天的恢复和准备情况。)”可知,先进的可穿戴设备与其他产品的不同之处在于它们揭示了习惯与健康之间的联系。故选 C。
10.推理判断题。根据第三段“The urge to improve everything — sleep scores, readiness ratings, daily stress — can make lives center around numbers. While these numbers offer insight, they
根据最后一段“When numbers begin to shadow our days, the watch on our wrist can make us forget the body’s gentler signals.(当数字开始笼罩我们的生活时,手腕上的手表会让我们忘记身体发出的微弱信号。)”和“Living a healthy life still means adding enjoyable habits, like evening walks or taking the stairs, and appreciating the pleasure and freedom they bring,
rather than simply chasing device targets.(过健康的生活仍然意味着增加一些令人愉快的习惯,比如晚上散步或爬楼梯,并欣赏它们带来的快乐和自由,而不是简单地追求设备目标。)” 故选 A。

The toy industry is pushing forward with AI chatbots built into stuffed animals and mini robots. These toys are flexible enough to conduct limited
conversations with children and to respond to them just as they finish talking. Are these
interactions enough to provide the “personalized education” one company claimed? Will toys like Curio’s Grem help or harm children’s language development?
Research shows that chatbot talk is unlikely to improve young children’s language outcomes. In fact, if allowed to replace conversations with caregivers, these
故选 A 项。
But these vocabulary words are not learned because they were spoken out of context, as current AI-infused toys do, but from caregivers who make the words
come alive.(但这些词汇并非像当前 AI 玩具那样脱离语境习得,而是通过看护者让词汇变得生动鲜活而学会的。)”和第三段中的“Language skills do not grow from simply hearing lots of words — they grow from hearing words in conversations that capture the child’s attention.(语言技能并非单纯通过听大量单词形成,而是源于在能吸引孩子注意力的对话中聆听词汇。)” 故选 A 项。
Will toys like Curio’s Grem help or harm
children’s language development?(像库里奥的格雷姆这样的玩具对儿童的语言发展是有益还是有害?)”

16.上文“We all experience moments like this: a friend doesn’t reply to your message, or someone walks right past you without noticing. Most people move on quickly, but for those who are
F“They may
immediately assume something is wrong with them(他们可能会立刻认为是自己出了问题)”具
17 .上文“Because of this fear, they try to protect themselves by avoiding eye contact, keeping
空后“sometimes creating the very rejection they were afraid of.(有时反而造成了他们所害怕的拒绝)”指出这种行为带来的负面结果。 E“Sadly, this distance can make them seem cold or unfriendly(可悲的是,这种距离会让他们看起来冷漠或不友好)”中的“this distance” 指代前文的疏远行为,点明其带来的负面印象,与后文结果相呼应,符合语境。故选 E。
18 .上文“When your mind jumps to the worst explanation, pause and ask: What else could this
G“Perhaps the other person is busy, stressed, or simply distracted(也许对方只是忙碌、有压力或只是分心了)”具体列举了中性的合理原因,是对前文问题的直接回答,与后文“neutral possibilities”相呼应,符合语境。故选 G。
19 .上文“People with rejection sensitivity often hide their feelings, hoping others will understand without being told.(有拒绝敏感的人常常隐藏自己的感受,希望别人不用被告知就能理解)”说明这类人习惯沉默隐藏情绪。
20 .空后“If someone reaches out to you, offer a small sign of openness — a smile, a short reply, or a simple “thank you.”(如果有人向你主动示好,给出一点友好的表示 —— 一个微笑、一句简短的回复或一句简单的“谢谢”)”介绍了对他人的主动示好做出积极回应的做法。 C“Respond warmly when others show care(当他人表达关心时热情回应)”概括了本段核心建议,与后文具体的回应行为相呼应,符合语境。故选 C。

47 . That night, I sat at my desk, notebook open and mind racing with details. I decided to
design a gentle reminder app especially for the elderly. I listed simple functions: important dates, daily tasks, and warm notes. I focused on making the words big and the buttons easy to touch.
Whenever I felt stuck, I thought of Mrs. Thompson’s kind smile and her wish for something to help her remember. I carefully tested every part again and again, making sure it was simple and helpful. Deep in my heart, I hoped this little app could bring convenience and warmth to her and more elderly people.
A week later, I presented my project to Ms. Davis. I introduced the app’s purpose and
showed how it worked. Ms. Davis praised my thoughtful idea and spoke highly of my project.
After class, I brought the app to Mrs. Thompson. She was delighted and tried it at once. “This is
exactly what I need,” she said happily. Watching her smile, I truly understood what Ms. Davis had meant: coding is not just code, but a way to use technology to care for others.
