①For more than a month, the world has been very excited about a new AI model called DeepSeek-R1. The company behind it, also called DeepSeek, is a business based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
②The new AI first appeared on Jan 20. In just one week, it beat OpenAI’s ChatGPT and became number one free application (应用) in the App Store. What is so special about it?
③According to DeepSeek, the new AI model is as good at difficult activities like math as other big-time models. But it needs much less computing power (算力) to do that.
