Pets will soon be able to ride light rail trains (轻铁) with their owners in Hong Kong! Starting in May 2025, cats and dogs can enjoy a train ride on weekends and holidays, according to the MTR Corporation (MTRC), a leading public transport company in Hong Kong.
This is a test run that will last for two months. If people want to bring their pets on the train, they need to buy a special pet pass. It costs HK$399 (about 375 yuan) each month. However, owners still need to buy their own tickets.

We all know exercise is important, yet we don’t always want to do it! Often we are too busy or feel lazy. But we should try our best to exercise every day.
Exercise is good for our body. 17 Exercise develops our muscles (肌肉) and makes us stronger. When we exercise, we use energy. This keeps our weight down. Being overweight puts stress on our body. It can cause pain in our back and knees, and even cause more serious problems such as heart disease later in life.

Scientists also tell us the body makes more of certain chemicals (化学物质) after exercise. 18 So, when you have trouble with your homework, do some exercise, then try again!
19 When we exercise, our brain makes special chemicals. These chemicals can relax our body and calm our mind. Feeling fit can also make us feel better and more confident about ourselves. When we play a sport with others, we can even make new friends.
Remember: Health is wealth. The more you exercise, the healthier you’ll become. 20

“Welcome to English drama (剧) class! Today, we are going to play Cinderella!” said Lin Xiao, one of the volunteer teachers from Shenzhen University. In front of her, there were 45 country school fifth graders listening excitedly.
In response (响应) to the government’s call for the revitalization (复兴) of countryside education, the Volunteer Teaching Program was set up in 2021. For four years, volunteers like Lin have spent their summers teaching in Shangbao Village, Ganzhou City, where these educational improvements (教育改善) are expected to happen.
As the captain, Lin arrived in Ganzhou with her team on July 10, 2023. Although the living conditions were terrible, she believed the experience was valuable in making the lives of local students better.
During the teaching, Lin found that students in village schools are often short of interest in English because of few materials (材料) and chances to use the language. To increase their interest in English, Lin and her team planned special English drama courses to encourage children to express themselves bravely. “It is better for village students to learn English through acting, because they will have more fun,” Lin explained. During rehearsals (排练), Lin helped the children understand the storyline, practise words over and over again, and build cooperation (合作) among them. She discovered a big change in the students’ attitudes (态度) now, with many becoming interested in English.
