2.用法
(1)过去进行时表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作。时间点可以用介词短语、副词或从句来表示,也可由上下语境暗示。

(2) 过去进行时表示过去某阶段一直在进行的动作。

6.有些动词通常不用于进行时,主要有:
4. 短暂性动词,如decide、stop等。
1. 表示心理状态、情感的动词,如love、hate、like、know等。
2. 部分连系动词,如seem、appear等。
3. 感官动词,如see、hear、feel、smell、sound、taste 等。

② He was reading a story book last night.
昨天晚上他正在读故事书。(可能读完了,也可能没有读完)
