Would you like to be taught by a robot or a computer Imagine an AI classroom: there is no robot at the front of the class, just AI programs on your computers and virtual reality (VR) headsets. Human learning coaches are also in classrooms to lend a hand, if needed. Here are some comments from the Internet users.
AI is only as good as the information it learns. It can't replace a human teacher-especially not when it comes to creative subjects like art or drama Human teachers also manage feelings (Molly, Sydney, Australia)
AI teachers can pay attention to each pupils' needs and help them understand subjects they find difficult. This is hard for human teachers in a large classroom with lots of children. (Zhang Bei, Shanghai, China)
AI technology is already used in lesson planning, so why not use it for teaching too-it would save schools money. And there is a shortage of secondary teachers in the UK-AI teachers could be helpful. (Oliver, Cambridge, UK)
Using AI to teach pupils is a step too far and that students need human interaction in their lessons. However clever AI is, it can't connect with pupils or encourage children to work hard and achieve their dreams. (Jason, New York, USA)
16.What can we find in an AI classroom
A.A robot and computers. B.Sports coaches and computers.
C.A robot and human teachers. D.Computers and human teachers.
17.Which of the following ideas does Oliver probably agree with
A.AI teachers are helpful and money-saving.
B.AI teachers do better at dealing with students.
C.AI teachers build a real relationship with students.
D.AI teachers can teach students as well as human teachers.
18.In which part of the magazine can we read the text
A.Health. B.Sports. C.Travel. D.Education.
① Do you usually see a wolf howling loudly at the Moon It's cool. But wolves don't actually do this.
② Instead, they mostly howl to "talk" with one another. Wolves usually live in packs, often made up of a father, a mother, and their young kids. Packs may also include aunts, uncle, and cousins. Each pack claims (要求) a territory — an area where members live and hunt.
③ Whether hanging around or on the move, the wolves often need to communicate. To connect over short distance, they may yip, growl, and whine. But to "keep in touch" over longer distanced, they howl.
④ Different howls send different messages. Some rally (召集) the pack before a hunt or meal. Others are used to warn the pack of danger. A wolf that gets separated from the group may howl to communicate that it's lost. Once the pack answers, the wolf will howl back to show where it is. Sometimes, wolves may even howl just for fun! Scientists believe that group howls—when one wolf starts, and the others join in — help the group build stronger connections. Think of it like a sing-along!
⑤ But wait — if wolves mostly howl to connect with one another, what made people start thinking that they howl at the Moon The idea may have sprung from folktales. Also, wolves often hunt at night and lift their snouts (口鼻部) toward the sky when howling. This may have led some people to believe that the creatures were directing their calls to the Moon. In reality, wolves raise their snouts because it helps the sound of their howls travel farther.
⑥ The Moon may not cause a wolf to howl. But wolf calls are still amazing. They allow packs to stick together, help make wolves safer, and may even deepen the pack's connections. Now that's something to howl about!
19.According to the passage, why do wolves howl
A.To find food more easily. B.To talk with other wolves.
C.To scare away other animals D.To communicate with the Moon.
20.What does the underlined word "it" in Paragraph 4 refer to
A.The Moon. B.The group howl.
C.Scientists' belief D.The pack's connection
21.Why might some people have thought wolves howled at the moon
A.Because the moon has a special influence on wolves.
B.Because wolves are symbols of the wild and unknown.
C.Because ancient stories tell about wolves howling at the moon.
D.Because wolves often howl at night and lift their snouts toward the sky.
22.What is the structure of the passage
A.①/②③④/⑤/⑥. B.①②/③④/⑤⑥.
C.①/②③/④⑤/⑥. D.①②③/④⑤/⑥.

Earth's ozone (O3) layer (臭氧层), the protective shield (防护盾) in the atmosphere about 15 to 30 kilometers above the Earth's surface, is improving and is expected to return to its normal state by the middle of the 21st century.
Over the past thirty years, humans have successfully reduced the use of many chemicals harmful to the ozone layer. Ozone in the stratosphere (平流层) takes in harmful UV rays from the sun, especially UVB rays. These rays are connected to skin cancer, eye damage, and harm to plants and sea life. This ozone is often called "good" ozone, unlike "bad" ozone near the ground, which causes air pollution and breathing diseases.
Ozone is an active gas made up of three oxygen atoms (氧原子). Its amount naturally changes based on the season and location, but it is almost the same since 1957. However, studies in the 1970s and 1980s showed that the ozone layer was in danger.
In 1974, scientists Mario Molina and Sherwood Rowland discovered that CFCs (chemicals widely used in spray cans and fridges) could damage the ozone layer. When CFCs reach the Stratosphere, UV rays break them down into chlorine (氯气), a poisonous (有毒的) greenish gas, which can destroy more than 100, 000 ozone molecules (分子). This process happens much faster than the ozone can fix itself.
In 1985, English scientists found a large hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica (南极洲),which was later connected to CFCs. This hole reappears every year in the spring months (August to October). The ozone layer is also weakening at the North Pole, causing rapid warming in the Arctic (北冰洋), as CFCs are even stronger greenhouse gases than CO2.
Good news came in 2023 when scientists reported that the ozone layer is returning to its normal state. It is expected to return to its 1980 condition by 2040. Ozone holes over the Arctic and Antarctica will close up by 2045 and 2066.
This progress is thanks to the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement signed in 1987 by 46 countries to stop using harmful chemicals. Today, nearly 200 countries have joined, making it a big success in protecting the Earth's atmosphere.
23.Why is the ozone layer considered "good" ozone
A.Because it lets in more UV rays.
B.Because it makes the Earth warmer.
C.Because it makes oxygen for people to breathe.
D.Because it stops harmful UV rays and protects life.
24.What does Paragraph 4 mainly explain
A.How CFCs harm ozone.
B.How ozone changes over time.
C.Studies showing ozone was in danger.
D.Scientists' findings in the 1970s and 1980s about ozone loss.
25.How does the writer support the idea that CFCs destroy ozone
A.Because it lets in more UV rays.
B.By listing steps of ozone repair.
C.By giving examples of solutions.
D.By comparing ozone levels in different years.
26.According to the passage, what can we infer about the Montreal Protocol
A.It was signed by nearly 200 countries.
B.It was made to protect the ozone layer.
C.It was signed after scientists found CFCs were harmful.
D.It was created to stop harmful chemicals after the ozone hole was found.

The woman, crying and struggling (挣扎), tried to pull him back.
Without hesitation, Christine King stopped her car, jumped out, and ran toward the man. "Give me the baby!" she shouted, "Don't do this!"

But he refused. The officers took him by his arm and in the terrible mess, Christine King managed to pull the scared child away and hand her to her mother. The police then controlled the man.
The child was safe. The mother explained through tears that the man had found them after a break up and forced them into the car.

This ozone is often called 'good' ozone…"可知,平流层中的臭氧吸收来自太阳的有害紫外线,特别是UVB射线,这些射线与皮肤癌、眼睛损伤以及对植物和海洋生物的危害有关。因此,这种臭氧被称为"好"臭氧。所以选项D"Because it stops harmful UV rays and protects life."(因为它阻挡有害紫外线并保护生命)是正确答案。故选D。
In 1974, scientists Mario Molina and Sherwood Rowland discovered that CFCs (chemicals widely used in spray cans and fridges) could damage the ozone layer. When CFCs reach the Stratosphere, UV rays break them down into chlorine (氯气), a poisonous (有毒的) greenish gas, which can destroy more than 100,000 ozone molecules (分子).(1974年,科学家Mario Molina和Sherwood Rowland发现,氯氟烃(广泛用于喷雾罐和冰箱的化学物质)会破坏臭氧层。当氯氟烃到达平流层时,紫外线将其分解为氯气,一种有毒的绿色气体,可以破坏100000多个臭氧分子。)"可知,这段话详细说明了CFCs如何到达平流层,并被紫外线分解成氯气,进而破坏臭氧分子。因此,选项A"How CFCs harm ozone."(CFCs如何损害臭氧)是正确答案。故选A。
A"Because it lets in more UV rays."(因为它让更多的紫外线进入)是接近的,这里的"它"指的是CFCs导致的氯气,氯气的存在让更多的紫外线能够穿透臭氧层,从而间接证明了CFCs对臭氧的破坏作用。故选A。
This progress is thanks to the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement signed in 1987 by 46 countries to stop using harmful chemicals." B"It was made to protect the ozone layer."(它是为了保护臭氧层而制定的)是正确答案。

Christine Dawn King, a 52- year-old caregiver for the elderly, was rushing to work. But the traffic on the high way was heavy, as usual. She moved into the exit lane (驶出车道), which was moving very slowly.(52岁的老人看护人克里斯汀·道恩·金(Christine Dawn King)正赶着去上班。但高速公路上的交通和往常一样繁忙。她驶入了速度非常缓慢的出口车道。)"可知,当她注意到那个男人和女人时,她正在拥堵的交通中开车去上班,故选D。
28.推理判断题。根据""I've got a gun, and I will shoot you."Christine King didn't see a gun,but she believed him. Her body started shaking. "OK," she said, stepping back.("我有枪,我会开枪的。"克里斯汀·金没有看到枪,但她相信了他。她的身体开始颤抖。"好吧,"她说,后退了一步。)"可知,虽然Christine King没有看到枪,但她相信他,因此她害怕男人会伤害她,所以后退了一步。因此,选项C"她害怕男人会伤害她"是正确答案。故选C。
29.词义猜测题。根据"Christine King stopped her car, jumped out, and ran toward the man.(克里斯汀·金停下车,跳下车,朝那个男人跑去。)"

【答案】16.D
17.A
18.D
Imagine an AI classroom: there is no robot at the front of the class, just AI programs on your computers and virtual reality (VR) headsets. Human learning coaches are also in classrooms to lend a hand, if needed.(想象一个人工智能教室:教室前面没有机器人,只有你电脑上的人工智能程序和虚拟现实(VR)耳机。如果需要,人类学习教练也会在教室里帮忙。)" 可知,没有实体机器人在教室前面,而是电脑上的AI程序和虚拟现实耳机,同时有人类学习教练在需要时提供帮助。因此,我们可以确定在AI教室里既有电脑也有人类教师,故选D。
17.推理判断题。根据"AI technology is already used in lesson planning, so why not use it for teaching too—it would save schools money. And there is a shortage of secondary teachers in the UK—AI teachers could be helpful.(人工智能技术已经用于课程规划,那么为什么不把它也用于教学呢?

D.①②③/④⑤/⑥.

Instead, they mostly howl to 'talk' with one another." B"To talk with other wolves."(与其他狼交谈)是正确答案。故选B。
Scientists believe that group howls…Think of it like a sing-along!(科学家们认为,该群体会嚎叫……把它想象成一个合唱!)"可知,这句话中的"it"指的是前文提到的群体嚎叫这种行为"group howls"。选项B"The group howl."(群体嚎叫)是正确答案。故选B。
21.细节理解题。根据原文第五段"Also, wolves often hunt at night and lift their snouts toward the sky when howling. This may have led some people to believe that the creatures were directing their calls to the Moon.(此外,狼经常在晚上狩猎,嚎叫时会把鼻子举向天空。
【答案】23.D
24.A
25.A
26.B
根据原文第二段"Ozone in the stratosphere (平流层) takes in harmful UV rays from the sun, especially UVB rays. These rays are connected to skin cancer, eye damage, and harm to plants and sea life. This ozone is often called 'good' ozone…" D"Because it stops harmful UV rays and protects life."(因为它阻挡有害紫外线并保护生命)是正确答案。故选D。
This progress is thanks to the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement signed in 1987 by 46 countries to stop using harmful chemicals." B"It was made to protect the ozone layer."(它是为了保护臭氧层而制定的)是正确答案。故选B。

It was another hot late-July Thursday in Philadelphia. Christine Dawn King, a 52- year-old caregiver for the elderly, was rushing to work. But the traffic on the high way was heavy, as usual. She moved into the exit lane (驶出车道), which was moving very slowly.
That's when she noticed a man and a woman standing near a stopped car. They seemed to be arguing Christine King watched as the woman tried to stop the man from walking toward the guardrail (护栏), which overlooked a 40- foot drop onto a parking lot. The man kept pushing the woman away and moving something from his right arm to his left. When he reached the guardrail, he held the object over the edge. Christine King was shocked: That's a baby! The woman, crying and struggling (挣扎), tried to pull him back.
Without hesitation, Christine King stopped her car, jumped out, and ran toward the man. "Give me the baby!" she shouted, "Don't do this!"
The man moved closer to the edge, but Christine King and the woman stopped him, trying to reach the 18- month-old girl, "Get off my baby!" the man screamed (尖叫). When Christine King tried to grab the child, he looked straight at her and said, "I've got a gun, and I will shoot you."
Christine King didn't see a gun, but she believed him. Her body started shaking. "OK," she said, stepping back.
She looked around at the stopped traffic. Isn't anyone going to help me she thought. Many people were filming on their phone's, but no one got out of their cars. It was up to Christine King, a mother of five, to stop this horrible situation.
Christine King moved closer and begged, "Just give me the baby." The man stepped back against the guard rail. Again and again, Christine King tried to grab the girl but couldn't free her. Then, sirens sounded — the police had arrived. The child's mother suddenly shouted, "I have a gun! It's his gun!" She had taken it from his pocket during their struggle.
The police rushed in with their guns out. "They're going to shoot you," Christine King warned the man. "Give me the baby."
But he refused. The officers took him by his arm and in the terrible mess, Christine King managed to pull the scared child away and hand her to her mother. The police then controlled the man.
The child was safe. The mother explained through tears that the man had found them after a break up and forced them into the car.
Later, the man admitted several crimes and was sentenced (宣判) to up to 23 months in prison. Many people have asked Christine King why she risked her life for strangers.
