Last year,I joined the school volunteer club and got a chance to help at a primary school in
the countryside.It was a small school with only three classrooms and five teachers for all the
students from Grade 1 to Grade 6.
When I first got there,I was shocked by the situation.The students had few books and no
colorful stationery().Some of them even shared a pencil box.But they were all very
hard-working.Every moming,they read books aloud in the yard,and after class,they asked the
teachers endless questions.I taught them English,and they learned so fast.They drew pictures for
me and said "thank you"with the sweetest smiles.
During the two weeks,I lived with the students.I helped them with their homework,played
games with them,and told them stories about the city.When I left,they gave me a bag full of
paper stars they folded by themselves.Tears ran down my face when I saw those stars.
This experience changed me a'ot.I used to complain about my life,but now I know how
lucky I am.It also makes me realize that a little kindness can bring so much warmth.I plan to go
