This is symbolic of the "ha" or "breath of life" that comes from the gods.The Inuit Eskimos have a traditional greeting known as the kunik, and it is used among family and loved ones. This involves pressing your nose and upper lip against another person's skin, and breathing in.In Thailand, a traditional greeting is known as the wai.
