As your guide, I’d like to share some common cultural symbols you’ll encounter during your time in China. They’re a great way to understand local culture.
The giant panda is China’s national animal. Beyond being cute, it stands for peace and friendship, and also represents China’s hard work in wildlife conservation.
Imagine that you are a tour guide in China. What additional information can you give tourists on Chinese cultural symbols
Tea culture is another key symbol. Chinese tea ceremonies and the traditions around tea aren’t just about drinking tea—they show respect to others, warm hospitality, a calm mindset, and the idea of staying healthy.
You’ll see colourful lanterns during festivals like the Mid-Autumn Festival. These lanterns carry meanings of joy, celebration, and wishes for good fortune.
One more symbol you might notice is “囍” (pronounced “xí”), which means “double happiness”. It’s often on paper cuttings, decorations, fabrics, and most notably, on wedding invitations or at wedding venues—this character is all about celebrating great joy and happy marriages.
The passage introduces three important Chinese cultural symbols: dragons, the color red, and lucky numbers.
It compares their different meanings and uses between Chinese and Western cultures.
We should respect cultural differences and understand our own culture better.
