snowstorm
Last winter, my family had a terrifying experience. It started one evening while we were enjoying a quiet night at home. My parents were watching TV while my brother was doing his homework. A: “Look!” my brother shouted. “I can see the fire over there!”
B: I had my phone out. I was ready to call for help.
C: My dad stopped me. “No time for photos, kid!” he said. “That’s
a wildfire, and it’s moving fast. We need to leave now.”
A: My brother held Dad’s hand. “Do we go towards the lake we passed earlier?”
B: I hurried to catch up, asking worriedly,“Will the fire follow us?
My throat feels uncomfortable.”
C: “Cover your mouth with this towel(毛巾). The lake is safe.
We’re almost there!” he said.
D: My mum checked the sky as we walked. “The smoke is not
getting closer yet, but let’s keep moving until we see the water!”
A: My brother suddenly pointed ahead. “I see the lake! Look!”
B: I took a deep breath and said, “Sorry, I wanted to take photos...
I won’t do that again in danger.”
C: My dad smiled softly and said, “Mistakes sometimes happen
—what matters is that we’re all together and safe now.”
