主谓一致是指句子的谓语动词和其主语在人称和数上必须保持一致。本单元侧重讲解集体名词作主语时的主谓一致问题。集体名词作主语时可大致归为以下三种情况。
1.有些名词,如people、cattle、police、trousers等没有单数形式,作主语时,谓语动词只能用复数形式。

2.有些集体名词,如public、family、enemy、audience、government、group、committee、team、media、band、staff、crew等,作主语时,谓语动词的数要根据其表示的意义而定。该名词表示一个整体时,其谓语动词用单数形式;表示集体中的若干个体时,谓语动词用复数形式。
