英语中，许多动词可以加上 -ed 或 -ing 变形容词，但含义不同：

-ing 令人…… 的 形容事物本身的特性 exciting（令人兴奋的
记忆口诀:
-ed 形容人
-ing多形容物,侧重描述事物本身具有的性质、特征

excite excited（感到兴奋的） exciting（令人兴奋的）

Object clause (Ⅱ)
if/whether 引导的宾语从句
(一)If/whether引导原句为一般疑问句的宾语从句，意为“是否”，不能省略，一般情况下if 和 whether 可互换。
I want to know if/whether the girl is a teacher.
(二)只能用whether不能用if的情况: 介词之后 e.g. I am worrying about whether I hurt my mom’s feelings. 在动词不定式之前 e.g. I can’t decide whether to stay. whether位于句首Whether this is true (or not), I don’t know. 用if会引起歧义时 Please tell me if you like the book.
Object clause (Ⅱ)
疑问词包括疑问代词(what; which; who; whose)和疑问副词(when; how; where; why)
I ask Tom which novel is his favorite.
I can't decide whether to stay.
宾语从句用陈述语序
例句: What are they talking about I want to know.
I want to know what they are talking about.
