什么是从属连词?
从属连词是指用以引导复合句中从句的连词。在复合句中,用作状语的从句叫作状语从句。状语从句可分为时间、地点、原因、条件、结果、目的和让步等类型。

一、although的用法
从属连词although、until、so that和if引导的状语从句
although意为“即使;尽管”,引导让步状语从句,可用though替换。
例句:They got on well together although/though they were total strangers.
虽然他们完全是陌生人,但他们在一起相处得很好。
尽管队伍输了,但队员们仍为他们自己感到骄傲。

在同一个英文句子中,although, though均不能与but同时使用,但可以与yet, still同时使用。

二、until的用法
1. until意为“直到……为止”,引导时间状语从句,主句谓语动词用延续性动词。
例句:By law, you are a child until you are 18.
从法律角度讲,你一直到18岁都是个儿童。
例句:I won’t leave until the rain stops. 我直到雨停才会走。
2. “not...until...”意为“直到……才……”,主句谓语动词通常用非延续性动词。
三、so that的用法
1. so that意为“为了,以便”,引导目的状语从句,一般放在主句后,且不用逗号隔开,相当于in order that,从句谓语中多含有can、could、will、may等情态动词。
例句:I gave you a map so that (=in order that) you wouldn’t get lost.
我给你一张地图以免你迷路。
2. so that 还可引导结果状语从句,意为“因此,所以”。 此时从句中一般不含情态动词。
例句:He practised every day, so that he made great progress.
他每天练习,所以他取得了很大的进步。
四、if的用法
if意为“如果;假若”,引导条件状语从句。含if引导的条件状语从句的复合句通常遵循“主将从现”“主情从现”或“主祈从现”原则。
例句:I will come if I’m free. 我有空的话会来。
(主句用一般将来时,从句用一般现在时)
例句:You can buy it if you really like it. 你若真的喜欢它,就可以买它。
(主句含情态动词,从句用一般现在时)
例句:If you see him, give him this note. 你若见到他,把这张便条给他。
(主句是祈使句,从句用一般现在时)
