I think the Chinese climbers must have been very proud and happy when they placed the national flag on top of Qomolangma, as they overcame extreme challenges to achieve this historic milestone for China!
2. What do you think George Mallory meant by “because it’s there”
I think George Mallory meant the great effort and challenge
of climbing to the top of the mountain, which no one else had
been able to climb at that point, was enough reason to do it in
the first place. Furthermore, he may have meant what is the
point of a challenge if no one attempts it. It showed the
human spirit of wanting to challenge oneself and conquer
nature.

I think a good mountain climber must be very fit and brave, and very determined to achieve the goals.
