Zhang Hongjun once spent his days on noisy construction sites in Shanghai, far from his
rural hometown in Fujian province. For over a decade, his life followed a common path: long
hours of labor, low pay, and the loneliness of being a migrant worker in a vast city. He dreamed of a change but saw few opportunities back home.
A visit became a turning point. Stuck in his village, Zhang noticed something new. The
roads were paved, internet signals were strong, and the local government was offering support to those willing to start businesses. The beautiful mountains and fresh air, once taken for granted,
now seemed full of potential. An idea began to form: what if he could build a future here, not just make a living there
Using his savings and a small government grant, Zhang took a daring step. He transformed his family’s old, empty house into a modern café, a place where city visitors could enjoy coffee
while viewing the terraced fields. At first, neighbors were puzzled. “Who will come to the mountains for coffee ” they asked. Zhang persisted, learning about coffee beans and design online.
Today, “Mountain Cloud Café” is more than a coffee shop. It’s a window for his village. Tourists come on weekends, and through his café, they discover and buy local specialties like mountain tea and dried fruits. Zhang has hired two local women, providing them with stable
income. More importantly, his success has sparked a conversation. A few other young people,

Many companies have advertised a feature that enables users to employ AI as a recipe
generator assistant. In one demonstration, a user asks the virtual assistant for a meal plan with
ingredients (食材) they have, and the AI returns a list of recipes using those ingredients. In fact, the employment of AI in the brainstorming stage is also gaining increasing popularity. While that seems convenient, most of the press about the relationship between AI and cooking has been

negative so far.
For years, chefs on popular video platforms have staged cook-offs between “real” and AI recipes, with the “real” chefs often winning. In 2022, Tasty, an online platform, compared a
chocolate cake recipe generated by an AI tool with one developed by a professional cook. While the AI recipe baked up fine, the cook’s recipe won in a blind taste test. The tasters preferred the cook’s cake for its not-too-sweet and juicer flavor compared to the AI cake.
Sarah and Kaitlin Leung are sisters who run a famous food blog. Their recipes go through a long process. They brainstorm ideas, do research, and experiment a lot before testing each recipe up to 40 times. “We know that our readers are trusting us, so we try to make sure our recipe not
only works but is also easy to follow,” Sarah says. “The stories that surround these recipes and the connections that we make with people through these recipes are priceless — it’s so deeply human. By comparison, the machine doesn’t eat and the machine can’t taste.”
“It’s not all negative for me.” A software engineer Olson believes AI has a place in the
recipe development process. He adds, “but I don’t think the technology is there to the point where you can have an entirely AI-generated blog, although that would be a cool concept. Maybe
someone should try it and see how it goes.”
8 .What can AI do in developing a recipe
A .Planning the budget. B .Shortening cooking time.
C .Coming up with ideas. D .Demonstrating cooking methods.
9 .What can we know about the competition launched by Tasty
A .The AI tool was developed by a cook.
B .The result agrees with those of prior years.
C .The cook’s cake tasted sweeter and juicier.
D .The comparison was based on the appearance.
10 .How does the sisters ensure the quality of their recipes on their food blog
A .By doing multiple trials. B .By learning the recipes from AI.
C .By using priceless ingredients. D .By following standard procedures.
11 .What is Olson’s attitude towards entirely AI-generated blogs
A .Supportive. B .Concerned. C .Reserved. D .Critical.

To get more EVs on the road, scientists are working to charge a car in the same time that it takes to fuel up at a gas station.
Electric vehicles are quieter, easier to repair and maintain, and far better for the
environment than traditional cars. Still, numbers of EVs on the road are trailing behind the cars
they’re supposed to replace, in part due to charging times. While fueling a gas car takes minutes, charging an EV can take much longer. The fastest public chargers (Level 3) can charge a battery to 80% in about 20 minutes, but slower and more common Level 2 chargers take hours, and Level 1 chargers at home can take days.
Scientists believe faster charging is possible by advancing battery science and charging technology. The goal is to approach refueling speed without compromising on safety or the
long-term life of the battery.
The core challenge is electrochemistry. EV batteries have two electrodes (anode and
cathode). During charging, lithium ions must move back to the anode. If they move too quickly, they can get “stuck”, reducing efficiency and potentially causing a short circuit or fire. Venkat Srinivasan ofArgonne National Laboratory compares this to “getting 100 people into a narrow room” — all trying to pass through one small door. Researchers are exploring new battery
chemistries to create multiple microscopic pathways for ions, easing congestion.
Another approach involves smarter charging software. Current charging uses a steady flow of electricity, which slows as the battery fills. By adjusting the current based on the battery’s
condition — for example, increasing it when the battery is around 30% charged and resistance is low — researchers at Idaho National Laboratory believe charging can be made both faster and
safer.
While research aims to replicate the gas-station experience, experts note that ultra-fast
charging will mainly serve long trips or emergencies. For daily use, slower charging at home or
work will remain the norm. “We drive to get from A to B,” says Idaho National Laboratory’s Tim Pennington, “not because we like going to the gas station. We don’t need a ten-minute charge
every day.”
12 .How does the author present the issue of EV adoption in the first two paragraphs
A .By providing statistical data on sales.
试卷第 5 页,共 11 页
B .By citing experts’ conflicting opinions.
C .By comparing charging and refueling times.
D .By listing the environmental advantages of EVs.
13 .What does the author try to illustrate by mentioning “100 people”
A .The collaboration among scientists. B .The need for more charging stations.
C .The physical bottleneck in fast charging. D .The complexity of battery manufacturing. 14 .What is a key function of smarter charging software
A .User-chosen charging speed.
B .Overheating prevention during charging.
C .Fast charging from ordinary home outlets.
D .Current adjusted to the state of the battery.
15 .What can we learn about ultra-fast chargers in daily life
A .They are largely unnecessary for routine use.
B .They are considered essential for all EV users.
C .They are seen as equally important as home charging.
D .They are believed to eventually replace all slower chargers.

Nowadays, many people turn to the Internet for medical advice when they notice signs of illness. This is understandable as seeing a doctor can be time-consuming and costly unless it’s a serious health concern. 16 Often, the answer is: not really.
Medicine is complex. ___17___ For instance, the cause of a cough in a healthy 25-year-old might be different from that in a 65-year-old smoker. Yet, they might find the same search results. People may also not know the exact terms to search for. A search for “bloating (腹胀)” might
suggest eating more slowly or avoiding dairy products, which can help if bloating is from too
much air, but not so ifit’s from fluid (液体) build-up. Only after seeing a doctor and undergoing a physical examination would it be identified as “ascites (腹腔积水)”.

agendas, not to give accurate advice. In fact, only a small part of the health information available online is created with the reader’s best interests in mind.
Fortunately, a few strategies can help us find reliable medical information. First, check the author and website. 19 Government agencies are also trustworthy and offer regularly
updated information.
Besides, be careful if a website recommends a specific medication or procedure, especially if it has large ads for that treatment. 20
By following these tips, we can improve our chances of finding useful, accurate, and objective health information.
A .So is this trend bound to continue
B .But is online medical advice actually reliable
C .These pages may be created by profit-driven companies.
D .An even bigger issue is the rise of medical misinformation.
E .Online articles often fail to consider each person’s unique situation.
F .Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to figure out a website’s intentions.
G .Reliable sources are usually written by doctors or hosted on trusted sites.

Mary watched as students crowded around a notice announcing that the school’s radio
station was looking for a second host. Butterflies filled her stomach—she had always dreamed of becoming a campus host.
The radio station was a big deal: it aired music, school announcements, and entertaining
shows that everyone tuned into during lunch breaks. Olivia, the current host, was confident and talented, earning widespread admiration. In contrast, Mary was naturally shy, and speaking in
front of others made her nervous. Still, she decided to give it a try, even as a classmate remarked, “You You can barely read aloud in class without stumbling (磕磕绊绊)!”
Not discouraged, Mary practiced every evening by reading aloud from her textbooks. At
first, she stumbled over her words, but gradually her reading grew smoother and her pronunciation clearer. She even borrowed books on public speaking from the library to learn vocal techniques.
While her classmates chatted and laughed, she quietly absorbed every detail, determined to build her skills.
The day of the interview finally arrived. Holding the cold microphone, Mary felt her hands grow sweaty. She read the required texts perfectly—rehearsed (排练) thousands of times—but she struggled during the improvised (即兴的) part.
“Sir, I’ve been practicing for months, and I’m willing to work hard to learn,” she begged.
Mr. Carter smiled gently and said, “I appreciate your determination and your excellent
reading. But during a live broadcast, anything can happen, and you need to draw your audience’s attention with genuine emotion rather than simply reading from a script.”
That day, no one passed the interview; everyone left except Mary. Lost in thought, she
realized, “The problem isn’t with my pronunciation or reading …” It suddenly struck her that she could join the radio team in a supporting role to learn what it truly takes to be a host.

故填 have shaped。
故填 a。

47 .One possible version:
She asked Mr. Carter for permission and began by taking on small tasks. Organizing scripts, preparing playlists and setting the facilities, Mary threw herself into these tasks, treating each one as an opportunity to learn. During breaks, she observed Olivia’s hosting techniques—how she
handled technical issues and managed to make the audience feel excited and engaged. When no
one was around, she would practice, pretending to host her own show, announcing imaginary
school news, reciting poems, or introducing songs, just like Olivia did. As days turned into weeks, her notebook was filled with her thoughts and reflections. Mary felt more confident, and she
hoped she could finally share her voice with the school.
Then one day, Mr. Carter rushed in with unexpected news: Olivia had suddenly fallen ill. Mary stood up, her palms sweating but voice steady. “I’ve learned a lot these days. May I try ” The studio fell silent. Mr. Carter studied her determined face and nodded. Holding the cold mic
