Intonation in English
一般情况下,陈述句用降调。(In general, declarative sentences are pronounced with a falling tone.)
e.g. I like reading books.

在这个句子中,“like” 这个词的音调稍高,然后 “reading books” 的音调逐渐下降。整个句子的语调是从稍高的位置平稳地下降,表示陈述一个事实。
如果陈述句中有列举等情况,前面的部分可能用平调,最后一个用降调。(If there are enumerations or similar situations in a declarative sentence, the first part may be in a flat tone, and the last part in a falling tone.)
e.g. I bought a pen, a notebook, and a dictionary.
