Marta is interviewing a volunteer, Haru, at the meeting.
Marta: What kind of volunteer job do you have
Haru: I work at a nature museum. I teach children’s groups about animals and plants. Last month, I helped some students write a report about the birds they didn’t know.
Marta: That’s interesting. Where did you hear about this job
Haru: I found it through United We Serve. It’s a way for us to volunteer in our own communities. There’s a great website for volunteers: www.serve.gov.
Marta: Is it just for young people
Haru: No, it isn’t. There are chances for everyone!
Marta: I have an idea for a volunteer project. What should I do
Haru: Before you start, you should put your idea on the site and ask for volunteers. Many people are volunteering these days. And more people are going to volunteer in the future. In America, there is a law in which student volunteers can get money for their education. Besides, the number of older people **rockets**. That means we are going to have more older volunteers too.
Marta: Fine. What do you want to say to other young men
Haru: ▲
Marta: A good call (好想法)! Thank you for your time, Haru.
Haru: My pleasure.

How do you feel if someone wants to take away your park Well, that’s what’s going on in my community. There’s a park that some people want to turn into a golf course (球场). Let me tell you why I think it’s a bad idea.
First, a park is for the whole community. Not everyone likes golf, so not everyone will use the park. This isn’t fair. A community park should have open spaces for everyone to use.
Second, to make way for the golf course, lots of playground equipment (设备) will be moved or knocked down, which is a waste of time and money. It’s also a waste of good equipment.
Third, what about giving young people something to do Not all kids are crazy about golf. Now the park has a skating place and a playground. These attract lots of kids from the community. If you turn the park into a golf course, these kids won’t have anywhere to go and they won’t have anything to do. This means that they will stay at home and turn on a video game rather than get some exercise. It also means that they might be out on the street causing troubles. Wouldn’t it be better to give them something to do at the park
Finally, golf is expensive. Building a golf course and **maintaining** it cost a lot of money. Who is going to pay What about people who don’t have enough money to join a golf club The golf course will be only for rich ones.
Turning our park into a golf course is a bad idea. I think we should have a community meeting before plans go any further.
( )32. According to Paragraph 4, having nowhere to go will make some children ______.
A. go to get some exercise B. fall in love with golf
C. play video games at home D. go to the street and make friends
( )33. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage
( )34. What’s the Chinese meaning of the underlined word “maintaining”
A. 维持 B. 参加 C. 计划 D. 建设
( )35. What is the writer’s purpose of writing this passage
A. To help carry out further plans. B. To make the park more beautiful.
C. To encourage children to go skating. D. To stop the golf course from being built.

Is there anywhere more important than home We may have many homes during our lives but it is often the place we feel most safe. We use the word “home” in many English expressions (表达). Maybe that also makes it clear how important the home is to us.
If our homes are safe and happy, when we get back to them, we might say, “ __36__ ” Just like Dorothy famously does in the movie *The Wizard of Oz*. This means there isn’t anywhere else that is as good as home.

__39__ Scoring a home run in baseball is a very common one. But when a team, person or animal has finished something at last, we might say they are “home and dry”. In Australia and New Zealand, people say “home and hosed”. __40__ It means the job is done and you have time for a shower—you’re “hosed” and dry!
A. Home is where the heart is.
B. There’s no place like home.
C. Both expressions have the same meaning.
