Nina felt upset again as she watched her classmates get picked for basketball teams. As usual, she was the last one to be chosen. “You’re with me,” said Amber, captain of their team, though she didn’t sound very happy to have Nina in their team.
Nobody knew that her elder brother had been teaching her to practise shooting the ball into the basket every evening after school. In fact, she could do it more easily now, but no one ever gave her the chance to show what she could do.

Surprised, Nina caught the ball. “Shoot!” Amber shouted. Nina took a moment to adjust her feet and threw the ball. And everyone watched it directly going through the net!
“Great shot!” Amber said, running over to high-five her. The other teammates cheered too.

After the match, Amber said, “You should join our weekend team! We play in the park on Saturdays.”

How do you turn on the lights in your bedroom First, your brain decides what to do. Then, you use your arms, legs, hands and feet to carry out the action. Finally, the lights come on.
In the future, however, things may work in a different way. We will have a new technology called BCI, that is, the brain-computer interface. With it, computers can know what we want to do-like turning on the lights-and control the machines for us at once.
But how does BCI know what we want to do In fact, our brain has a large number of tiny parts called neurons (神经元) . These small parts “talk” to each other by using electricity. As they send messages to each other, information moves quickly between our brain and the rest of our body.
One neuron cannot make strong electricity by itself. But when a great many neurons work together, they can make strong electricity outside our head. We can know this electricity by putting special tools on our scalp (头皮) . Many BCI systems use these special tools to know what our brain is thinking.
Some of the earliest BCI systems were made to help disabled people who have lost the ability to move or speak.
In recent years, BCI technology has helped many others as well. It is now used to make wheelchairs run and video games more enjoyable.
In the coming years, BCI systems will likely become part of daily life. Do you want to turn on the bedroom lights Soon, you might only need to think about it!
42.Why does the writer use the example of “turning on the lights” in Paragraph 1 and 2
A. To describe what a new light is like.
B. To explain why humans take action.
C. To introduce how BCI works in life.
D. To share a moment when people have fun.
43.What can we learn about neurons from the passage
A. They are special tools outside our head.
B. They can send messages to other people.
C. They are big and strong parts of our brain.
D. They work together to make strong electricity.
44.Who can get help from BCI systems now
①People who can't talk. ② People who use wheelchairs.
③ People who can't see. ④ People who play video games.
A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ②③④ D. ①③④
45.How does the writer feel about the future development of BCI systems
A. Worried. B. Doubtful. C. Confident. D. Uninterested.
