On the last night of my month-long China trip, I finally got that chance to watch Jade River, which was extremely exciting.Upon arriving at the theater, I already noticed a difference. The building itself seemed rather unassuming and the attendees seemed less pretentious (自命不凡的) than at many Western operas. Instead, it seemed like ordinary people enjoying a beloved art form. There seemed to be no late policy at all as people came and went as they pleased. Also, talking during the performance was of no consequence (无关紧要的). In fact, it seemed quite common to turn to your neighbor and express your reaction to the scene. Especially after living in Germany, where silence translates to respect for the performers, the composer and the music itself, this took some getting used to.Unlike Western operas, where the applause must wait until the end of an aria (咏叹调), or in the case of Richard Wagner, at the end of the entire performance, the audience reacted right away, which helped me learn what is considered exceptional in this art form. I also learned what to listen to and watch for.The curtain call at the end was very understated (低调的). It was not the grand event, where the “smaller roles” come out first and the lead characters come out at the end, as I was used to. Instead, all the performers came out in a line together, including the instrumental musicians who had been at the side of the stage. I got the impression that every musician and actor, no matter what role they played, was respected. In a word, it was an enjoyable experience, and I would buy a ticket again in a heartbeat.24. What do we know about the author from the first paragraph A. She learned about Peking Opera from her school teachers.B. She watched Peking Opera at the beginning of her trip.C. She had long wished to watch Peking Opera live.D. She was nervous before watching Jade River.25. What made the author spend some time getting used to it all A. The strict late policy. B. The audience’s behavior.C. The rule of keeping silent. D. The requirement of applauding.26. What did the author realize about Peking Opera during the curtain call A. It showed the greatness of Chinese culture.B. It valued all performers big and small.C. It could learn from Western operas.D. It featured a grand curtain call.27. What did the author think of her Peking Opera experience A. It was similar to her other opera experiences.B. It filled the pity she had in her childhood.C. It was quite disappointing.D. It was worthwhile.CResearchers have proposed a novel method for counting and tracking vehicles on public roads, a development that could improve current traffic systems and help travelers get to their destinations faster.Using the cameras already installed on campus buses at the Ohio State University, researchers proved that they could automatically and accurately measure counts of vehicles on urban roadways, detect objects in the road and distinguish parked vehicles from those that are moving. In previous studies, Ohio State researchers found that using these mobile cameras provides much better spatial and temporal (时间的) coverage than relying on often temporarily placed sensors that don’t provide a view of many streets and roads in a city.“If we collect and process more high-resolution (高清晰度的) spatial information about what’s happening on the roads, then planners could better understand changes in demand, effectively improving efficiency in the broader transportation system,” said Keith Redmill, lead author of the study.“If we can measure traffic in a way that is as good or better than what is conventionally done with fixed sensors, then we will have created something incredibly useful extremely cheaply,” he said. “Our goal is to start building a system that could do this without much manual intervention because if you want to collect this information over lots of potential vehicles and lots of time, it’s worth fully automating that process.”While still a long way from total implementation (实施), the study suggests the system’s results bear promise for the future of intelligent traffic surveillance. Transportation planners, engineers and operators make vital decisions about the future of our roadways, so when designing transportation systems to work over the next 30 to 50 years, it’s necessary that we give them data that allows them to improve the efficiency of the system and the level of service provided to travelers.28. How can cameras on buses benefit travelers ( )A. By decreasing their transport cost. B. By shortening their travel time.C. By making their schedules tight. D. By improving their safety awareness.29. What can we know about the sensors placed temporarily ( )A. They accurately record the flow of traffic.B. They can’t detect objects on the road.C. They provide more spatial coverage.D. They cover less view of the urban traffic.30. What does the underlined word “surveillance” in paragraph 6 mean ( )A. Operation. B. Protection. C. Arrangement. D. Monitoring31. What is a suitable title for the text ( )A. It Is Time to Improve the Efficiency of Traffic SystemB. Cameras Installed on Buses Can Better Measure TrafficC. Transportation Planners Use Cameras to Make PoliciesD. Transportation Automation Is on Its WayDAmericans eat more than 3 million tons of chocolate each year, enjoying the unique taste that only the beans of the cacao (可可) plant can provide. To make the taste delicious as a sweet treat, chocolate makers combine cacao beans with lots of sugar. Together with saturated fatty acids (饱和脂肪酸) provided by the addition of cacao butter from the fruit, the few health benefits provided by the chocolate bean are outweighed by ingredients (成分) that increase the risk of illness. To address this imbalance, a team of researchers from ETH Zürich in Switzerland has gone back to the basics and reinvented the chocolate ingredients from the ground up. They’ve exchanged some of the sugar with a part of the cacao fruit that’s usually thrown away.By separating and drying the fiber-rich (富含纤维的) inside wall of the fruit — or endocarp — and combining it with juice from the soft inside part of the fruit that covers the cacao beans, the researchers found they could make something sweet to exchange the sugar commonly added to chocolate ingredients. Not only did the resulting chocolate have higher fiber content than traditional blocks, but it also provided equal sweetness without the same level of sugar usage. As an added bonus, parts of the fruit usually thrown away as waste could be kept and marketed, allowing cacao farmers to make more money.Changing a new product developed in a laboratory into a marketable product requires the clearing away of numerous difficulties, not least of which is the basic infrastructure (基础设施). “Although we’ve shown that our chocolate is attractive and has a comparable mouth-feel to traditional chocolate, the whole creation process will need to be adapted, starting with the cacao farmers, who will require drying machines,” says the study’s lead author Kim Mishra.Yet now that the whole-fruit chocolate has proven itself, there is good reason to believe that this low-sugar, high-fiber option will be sold in supermarkets in the near future.32. Why did the researchers reinvent chocolate ingredients A. To reduce the cost of chocolate production.B. To reduce health risks related to eating chocolate.C. To increase the cacao bean content in chocolate.D. To increase the natural sweetness of cacao beans.33. What is good about the new chocolate with endocarp compared to traditional one A. It provides more fiber. B. It is more shapeable.C. It tastes sweeter. D. It is more like fruit in smell.34. What does the underlined word “bonus” in paragraph 4 probably mean A. Treat. B. Option. C. Benefit. D. Reason.35. What is the author’s attitude toward the future of the new chocolate A. Doubtful. B. Unclear. C. Carefree. D. Hopeful.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。Compared with the obvious environmental issues we hear about every day, littering (乱丢废物) is often taken lightly. But it’s more severe than we may think.36 This seems to be a completely harmless action due to the fact that it’s part of a fruit — right Actually, no. A banana peel (皮)can take up to two years to decompose (分解), and with a third of drivers admitting to littering while driving, that’s a whole lot of banana peels, or much worse. An orange peel or a cigarette butt has a similar decomposing term to that of a banana. But tin and aluminium (铝) cans last up to 100 years. 37It’s true that longer-lasting materials will damage the environment and its animals for longer. 38 For example, despite its fairly short decomposing term, more than 120 tons of cigarette-related litter is discarded (丢弃) in the UK every day. Besides, our annual littering, which has increased by 500 percent since the 1960s, has caused the UK*s rat population to increase by 60 million. It’s not a cheap habit either: 39 So, ifs not surprising that if caught littering you could face a 20,000 fine or even jail time and, if you throw away something dangerous, the court could give you five years to serve. The punishments might seem severe. 40 So we still have some way to go in making sure people follow the rules. To take back our beautiful countryside and cities we need to do more than simply not littering. We need to truly care more about the world around us.A. Imagine throwing a banana peel out of your car while driving.B. However, among the reported cases only 2,000 out of 825,000 were punished.C. Banana peels are among the most frequent littered stuff.D. But we can’t simply measure the seriousness of a certain type of rubbish by its lifetime.E. And plastic bottles last forever, as do glass bottles and plastic bags.F. But fear of the environmental impact of litter is on the rise.G. UK taxpayers pay 500 million in order to keep our streets clean.第三部分 语言运用(共四节,满分55分)第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。I was feeling terrible after I was diagnosed (诊断) with cancer.
