宾语从句
一、 定义
宾语从句是在复合句中作及物动词、介词或某些形容词后宾语的从句,相当于名词的作用,主句和从句之间用连接词连接,从句需用陈述语序。
二、 核心考点
1. 语序规则:从句必须用主语+谓语的陈述语序,取消疑问句的倒装(特殊疑问词仍作从句主语/宾语,位置不变)。
例:Do you know where he lives (√,陈述语序)/ Do you know where does he live (×,倒装)
2. 时态呼应:主句为一般现在时/一般将来时,从句可根据句意用任意时态;主句为一般过去时,从句需用对应的过去时态(客观真理、客观事实除外,仍用一般现在时)。
例:He says he will go to Beijing.(主现,从将)/ He said he would go to Beijing.(主过,从过去将来)/ He said the earth goes around the sun.(客观真理,用一般现在时)
3. 连接词:根据从句是否完整、是否表疑问,选用 that/whether/if/特殊疑问词(what/when/where 等),本次重点掌握 that/whether/if 三类。
三、 连接词whether/if
that 引导的宾语从句
适用情况:引导陈述句作宾语的从句,从句意思完整、成分齐全,that 无实际含义,仅起连接作用。
核心用法
可省略:在及物动词后作宾语时,that 通常可以省略;在介词后、并列宾语从句的第二个从句前、主句谓语与从句之间有插入语时,that 不可省略。
例:I think (that) he is a good student.(及物动词后,可省)/ I know nothing except that he is from China.(介词后,不可省)/ He said (that) he would come and that he would bring a gift.(并列从句,第二个that不可省)
时态呼应:遵循宾语从句通用时态规则,无特殊变化。
常见搭配
常接 that 宾语从句的及物动词:believe, expect, explain, feel, hear, hope, imagine, prefer, promise, report, say, see, tell, think, understand, warn, wish
典型例句
- She hopes (that) she can pass the exam.
- We found (that) the story was very interesting.
whether 和 if 引导的宾语从句
只能用 whether,不能用 if 的情况:
从句紧跟介词后作宾语时
例:I’m thinking about whether we should go there.(√)/ I’m thinking about if we should go there.(×)
从句后接不定式(to do) 时
例:She can’t decide whether to go or stay.(√)/ She can’t decide if to go or stay.(×)
句中有or not 时(whether...or not 为固定搭配)
