Give your time. The gift of time is often more valuable to the receiver, and more satisfying to the giver, than money. We don't all have the same amount of money. __4__
__5__ “Selfless giving … easily becomes overwhelming,” psychologist Adam Grant says. He advises giving to others, but keeping your personal and emotional needs in mind. You matter too!

(2024泰州期末改编)If you have to describe yourself to someone else, what will you say It can be difficult to see yourself from the outside, but knowing who you are, namely self awareness(自我意识), can help you understand feelings and make friendships closer.
Self awareness means having a good understanding of our own character(性格): the ability to see ourselves clearly. If you're self aware, you may know that you love playing an instrument because you do well in it, and music makes you happy, or that you prefer watching TV on your own because it helps you relax.
Knowing what you like and dislike, what you do well in and what you find difficult allows you to make better decisions about friendships, schoolwork and so on. You learn to trust your own feelings more, which builds confidence. The World Health Organization says self awareness is one of ten important life skills that help young people live happier, healthier lives. Being self aware doesn't mean only thinking of yourself. By understanding your own feelings, you will better understand other people too.
How do you learn to be self aware It's a good way to ask questions. But ask yourself questions that start with “What” instead of “Why”. So if you don't understand why you keep arguing with a friend, ask yourself what you disagree on instead of why you're arguing.
Learning to be more self aware is a skill, which means you learn it as you grow. So be bold and try out new things, like playing a new sport or listening to different kinds of music. Don't be afraid to dislike something—discovering(发现) what you find difficult is a key part of learning more about yourself.

2. What should we do if we keep arguing with others

Smile Train is a charity that helps millions of children around the world, who suffer from a facial defect(缺陷). The defect happens when a baby's top lip or mouth doesn't form properly before birth. Eating and drinking is very difficult for these babies. The charity provides free operations, which give these children a new smile, new hope and a new beginning.
Children with the defect need all the help. Although many sufferers are accepted by their families, sadly, others are not. In some countries, children with this defect are often abandoned at birth because their parents feel ashamed of them or cannot afford the operations. The good news is that the operation is not difficult. It takes less than an hour and costs the family nothing. The charity raises money and finds the right medical volunteers to perform the operations.
A Smile Train doctor from the UK said, “Each child who has the operation is given a second chance at life. After years of staying at home, the children can finally go to school and be happy. Every year I perform hundreds of operations free of cost through Smile Train. Some of the stories I have heard are quite surprising. One newborn baby girl was found abandoned on a train. Luckily, she was found and adopted(收养) by a passenger. This lady then heard about Smile Train and brought the baby to our hospital. I did the operation and gave hope to the family. Experienced doctors like me share our skills with local doctors. In this way we make sure that these operations will always be available.”

“I don't know, Miss Eva. I'll be __1__ to somebody, but I don't know who,” Tom answered.
“My __2__ can buy you,” said Eva, quickly, “and if he buys you, you will have good times. I mean to ask him, this day.”
“Thank you, my little lady,” said Tom.
And Eva, hearing her father's voice, ran away. By some sudden movement of the ship, the little girl lost her __3__ and fell over the side of the boat into the water. Tom jumped into the water, as she fell, and was __4__ her in a moment. As a strong man, it was __5__ for him to keep afloat(漂浮着的) in the water. “Papa, do buy him! It's no matter what you pay,” whispered Eva.
“What for, dear?”
“He __11__ me and I want to make him happy.”
“Sounds __12__, certainly.”
Then he went to Haley and had some bargain(讨价还价) with the trader.
“All right,” said Haley. He filled out a bill of __13__ and then handed it to St Clare.
