It is safe to donate blood. In China, for example, people can donate blood once per six months. A donor(捐献者) must be at least 18 years old and in good health.

Have you ever heard of a famous charity called Operation Smile We hope we can help you understand how we are trying to help children all over the world.
Operation Smile was started by a doctor and his wife. In 1982, together with some volunteers, they went to the Philippines(菲律宾) to help children who had holes in their lips(嘴唇) or inside their mouths. It was very difficult for them to eat and drink. These volunteers worked very hard. But they worried that they could not carry on with the work because they didn't have enough money. The first charity shop was opened by Oxfam in 1947. Now there are over 7，000 charity shops in the UK. My favorite charity shop in my hometown is the Cross Shop. There I always find children's books, all 10 to 20 pence(便士) each. They are really cheap.
Most of the shop workers in charity shops are volunteers. Each shop has a manager(经理) and he gets some money. Every morning you see bags of things outside the shops. Some people bring and put them there without waiting for thanks. In fact, over 90 percent of the things in charity shops are from kind people.
All the money the shops get goes to charity work. Charity shops raise more than 110 million pounds every year. The money is for the sick and poor children, homeless and disabled people, and many others.
In a charity shop you can get cheap but nice things. You might even feel special while shopping. So if possible, let's do something for charity together.
