if/whether 引导的宾语从句
If/whether引导原句为一般疑问句的宾语从句,意为“是否”,不能省略,一般情况下if 和 whether 可互换。I want to know if/whether the girl is a teacher.
只能用whether不能用if的情况: 介词之后 e.g. I am worrying about whether I hurt my mom’s feelings. 在动词不定式之前 e.g. I can’t decide whether to stay. whether位于句首Whether this is true (or not), I don’t know. 用if会引起歧义时 Please tell me if you like the book.

疑问词引导的宾语从句
疑问词包括疑问代词(what; which; who; whose)和疑问副词(when; how; where; why)
e.g. I ask Tom which novel is his favorite.
e.g. I can't decide whether to stay.
宾语从句用陈述语序
e.g. What are they talking about I want to know.
