Around the world, many children love reading the stories by Hans Christian Andersen. Andersen was born on April 2nd, 1805, and he died on August 4th, 1875.
Andersen experienced many hard times when he was young. But they gave him ideas and helped him write many stories. When Andersen was a child, other children often laughed at his look, so he wrote The Ugly Duckling. His first storybook succeeded when it came out in 1835. And Andersen soon became famous, just like the ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan.
In his stories, children can see a magical world and also can learn truths of life in an easy way. For example, in The Little Mermaid(美人鱼), Andersen told people that sometimes we need to sacrifice(做出牺牲) for something or someone we love.

Join us at our 5th Kids’ Book Fair! We hold the fair for
2 days from May 24th to 25th. There are many interesting
activities for kids. On the morning of the first day, the writer
of the famous children’s book N is for Naples, Lisa Trebilcock,
comes to read the book to children in our hall. In the afternoon, the magician(魔术师) Walt Timoney brings kids his wonderful magical tricks. On the second day, the children under 15 can take part in our story-writing competition(比赛). And they can get a free book after submitting(提交) his or her story!
The fair is free. We also have free drinks for you.
