A delivery man promises to send food on time. He
keeps the promise. People trust him. That is credit
too!
If you borrow money from the bank and pay it back
on time, the bank trusts you. It will lend you money
again next time. That is credit too!

它的主要目的是劝说、告知或娱乐。
(1) persuade v.使信服;使相信
persuade sb to do sth 劝说某人做某事
例:She persuaded me to go to the party with her.
她劝说我和她一起去参加派对。
(2) inform v.通知;了解;熟悉
inform sb of/about sth 告知某人某事
例:Please inform us of any changes to the plan.
若计划有任何变动,请告知我们。
(3) entertain v.使快乐;娱乐
entertain sb with sth 用某物使某人快乐
例: The magician entertained the kids with amazing tricks.
魔术师用精彩的魔术把戏逗孩子们开心。
Language Points
2.In ancient times, when people began to trade things, there was a need for borrowing and lending.
在古代,当人们开始以物易物时,借贷行为的需求便随之产生了。
(1)本句是复合句。从句是when 引导的时间状语从句,主句是there be 句型。
(2) there was a need for sth 是固定表达,意思是“对······产生了需求”。
例:There is a need for hard work in our study.
我们的学习需要努力付出。
拓展:在此句中, need作为名词。need还可作为实义动词和情态动词。常见短语有:
①need to do sth. 表示“需要做某事”
例:I need to finish my homework tonight. 今晚我需要完成我的作业。
②need doing(主动形式表被动含义)
例:The bike needs repairing. 这辆自行车需要修理了。
③need作情态动词,后接动词原形,没有人称和时态变化
例:You needn’t worry about me. 你没必要担心我。
(3) borrow表示“借入”,常用搭配:borrow sth from sb从某人那里借入某物
例:I borrowed a book from Lucy. 我从露西那里借了一本书。
lend表示“借出”,常用搭配:lend sth to sb/ lend sb sth 把某物借给某人
例:Lucy lent me a book. 露西借给我一本书。
Lucy lent a book to me. 露西借给我一本书。
3. …but he had nothing to trade with Nokk, so he promised to trade the animals from his future hunts for Nokk’s tools.
······但是他(克伦)没有什么可以用来和诺克交换的东西,于是他承诺用未来猎到的动物来换取诺克的工具。
