Want to ski on a super-cool mountain? The company Snow Dream has plans for an amazing ski resort for winter games.
The size
The resort won’t be extremely large , with only 8 ski trails and a ski lodge. Skiers will get to the top of the mountain in a ski lift—so no tiring walks! The resort will be 2 ,000 metres above the sea level and it will be built on a stable part of the mountain. This way , it won’t be easily damaged by avalanches. Because it has a good location , the sun will shine brightly and provide warmth during the day.
The service
The ski lodge will have large glass windows. Skiers will be able to clearly see the snowy mountains and all the beautiful scenery in their rooms. They will almost get the feeling that they are in a snow-white world. The rooms will have a fireplace , TV and even fast internet. The lodge restaurant will serve delicious hot meals. Snow Dream wants to encourage people to enjoy nature , so guests won’t find any junk food on the menu. What’s more surprising is that it will be very quiet in the lodge at night , so guests will have to imagine the sound of the wind and snow outside.
The design
The resort won’t be cheap to build and it won’t be cheap to stay in. But the designers are especially proud of the fact that it will be environmentally friendly. It will use solar energy , of course , and it won’t disturb the local wildlife at all. In fact , some wild animals like rabbits and birds will build their homes near the resort , which can bring real advantages to the local ecosystem. This resort must have a promising future.

Life in public places is pleasant but can also have challenges . Sometimes , people smoking in public can make the environment bad and can’t provide the fresh air we hope for. That’s an unwelcome situation. But sometimes the problems that trouble us in public come from our own ideas . Maybe it ’s time to stop blaming others for bad habits , bad luck , or the environment. How can we change the way we deal with smoking in public?
Think about it in another way. You are in a park and see someone smoking near the children’s play area. It doesn’t mean that person is a bad person. Maybe they just don’t realize the harm. So try your best to politely remind them about the no- smoking rule here.
No one is perfect , and that includes people who smoke in public by mistake. So don’t expect everyone to follow the no-smoking rules as you think they should. If you see someone smoking in a non-smoking area , be kind to them when you remind them. If you’re always angry about such things , you are sure to be unhappy. Be positive and spread the idea of no-smoking to make public places better!
It can make you feel good. It’s meaningless if you always linger on the past—“I should have stopped that smoker yesterday” or “I wish I had the courage to speak up” . There’s nothing you can do to change that. Learn from it , and make sure you do better next time to keep public places smoke-free.
Sometimes , making public places no-smoking doesn’t go exactly the way you want. Try to change the way you encourage others to follow the rules.
( B )66. Where do the problems that trouble us sometimes come from according to Paragraph 1?
A. The smokers’ roles. B. Our own ideas.
C. The smokers’ changes. D. The smokers’ mistakes.
( C )67. Why should we politely remind a smoker in a non-smoking area?
A. To make the play area more interesting.
B. To show we are more hard-working.
C. Because the rule is good for everyone and the smoker may not know.
D. To show we are stricter with others.
( B )68. What should we do when we see someone break the no-smoking rule?
A. Treat ourselves kindly. B. Remind them kindly.
C. Look for perfect people. D. Change our speaking way.
( B )69. What do the underlined words “linger on” mean in Paragraph 4?
A. Look forward to. B. Keep thinking about.
C. Take pride in. D. Learn much from.
( D )70. Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A. Public places and no-smoking rules
B. Time and how to use it
C. Regret and how to avoid it
D. Smoking problems and how to solve them
第二节 阅读表达(共5题;每题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Understanding rules: Written and unwritten
A harmonious(和谐的) life happens when people follow both written rules and unwritten rules and then act properly. Let’s take a look at four different kinds of rules that will help you get on well in daily life.
The written rule
A written rule is a clear-cut rule that is formally made and written down . A written rule tells you exactly what you can or can’t do. For example , “No running in the hallway” or “Hand in your homework on time” . Following written rules keeps order in places like schools and public areas.
The unwritten follow-up rule
An unwritten follow-up rule is something that helps continue good interactions. In daily life , an unwritten follow-up rule depends on what others around you usually do. You need to observe how people act after a certain situation to understand this rule. Unwritten follow-up rules make your actions fit in well with the group. For instance,
if everyone in your class waits for others to finish speaking before talking in a discussion , that’s an unwritten follow-up rule.
The clarifying(澄清的) unwritten rule
You need to figure out a clarifying unwritten rule in two situations. The first one: When the unwritten rule isn’t clear to you. The second one: When you’re not sure if you’re doing the right thing according to unwritten rules. For example , you might wonder if it’s an unwritten rule to take off your shoes when entering a friend’s home in your neighborhood(some do , some don’t).
The special unwritten rule for manners
Examples of words showing this kind of rule are “polite ” , “rude ” , “considerate” and “impolite” . Rules using these ideas are key for good manners . Questions (or thoughts) like , “Is it polite to talk loudly in the library? ” or “What’s the most considerate way to help a new classmate?” really let you learn more about how to behave well with others.
71. When does a harmonious life happen according to the text?
A harmonious life happens when people follow both written rules and unwritten rules and then act properly.
72. What does a written rule tell you?
A written rule tells us exactly what we can or can’t do.
73. What does an unwritten follow-up rule depend on?
An unwritten follow-up rule depends on what others around us usually do.
74. When will you figure out a clarifying unwritten rule?
When the unwritten rule isn’t clear to us or we’re not sure if we’re doing the right thing according to unwritten rules.
75. What do you think is a polite way to refuse a gift?
Say “thank you” and explain the reason.(答案不唯一)

73. What does an unwritten follow-up rule depend on?

74. When will you figure out a clarifying unwritten rule?

Hi Alex,
How’s it going? I’m writing to tell you about the local library near my place. There are many rules here. Let me share them with you.
First, we need to get a library card to borrow books. It’s easy to apply for one. And we can borrow up to 5 books at a time. We should return them on time. If we are late, we have to pay a small fine.
Also, we must keep quiet in the library. No talking loudly or making phone calls. It helps everyone focus on reading. And we can’t eat or drink there. The library needs to stay clean.
Why don’t you come to the local library this weekend? We can read some interesting books together. Here’s a map to help you find it. After you get off the subway at Library Station, walk out from Exit B. Then turn right and walk along the street. You’ll see a big park on your left. Don’t go into the park. You need to figure out a clarifying unwritten rule in two situations. The first one: When the unwritten rule isn’t clear to you. The second one: When you’re not sure if you’re doing the right thing according to unwritten rules. For example, you might wonder if it’s an unwritten rule to take off your shoes when entering a friend’s home in your neighborhood(some do, some don’t).
The special unwritten rule for manners
Examples of words showing this kind of rule are “polite”, “rude”, “considerate” and “impolite”. Rules using these ideas are key for good manners. Questions (or thoughts) like, “Is it polite to talk loudly in the library?” or “What’s the most considerate way to help a new classmate?” really let you learn more about how to behave well with others.

There are many ways of preparing for the Hebei Provincial Sports Meet for us students. As for me, I always do sports training after school. Running and jumping practices make my body stronger. Also, I often watch sports matches on TV. I can learn skills from excellent athletes. Another way I often use is keeping a training journal.
