The Yellow River is the second longest river in China and the "mother river" of Chinese civilization. It is famous for its yellow silt from the Loess Plateau. It runs about 5,464 kilometers across northern China and empties into the Bohai Sea.
Nile River is the longest river in the world. It is about 6,650 kilometers long and runs through 11 countries in northeastern Africa, like Egypt and Sudan. For thousands of years, it has given people water and good soil for farming, so it is very important for life in this area.

Why do we call the Yellow River our “mother river”
Because the Yellow River is the cradle(摇篮) of ancient Chinese civilization. It provided water for farming, supported the growth of early settlements(聚居地), and helped shape Chinese culture and history. It has nurtured(培育) generations of Chinese people, so we call it our "mother river".

reduce chemical use
plant trees along river banks
