①In Qingxu, Shanxi Province, aged vinegar (老陈醋) is very famous. Long ago, sellers carried it across China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, making it famous everywhere.
②The making of aged vinegar has a history of over 3,000 years. It needs five steps. First, workers steam (蒸) grains for 15 hours. The second step is to make koji (制曲) and let it ferment (发酵). Workers wait for the fermentation to succeed. Then, they smoke the vinegar with big fire at a high temperature. This is the key step to make the vinegar dark. Next, they remove the vinegar from the mash (糊状物). Last, they dry the vinegar in the sun at 40-50℃. New vinegar looks light, but after aging for at least one year, it turns dark. That’s why it’s called “aged vinegar”!
③Now, people still do this job by hand. In a workshop, workers wear clothes from the Ming Dynasty. “They are not actors, but real workers.” says Mr. Zhang, the manager of the workshop. “Our customers want to know how to make aged vinegar and its cultural stories.”
④Also, to make it better, some new technologies (技术) are in the making process and the workshop doesn’t need any people to help. Here, they use 5G technology to check the process. Although the vinegar is now fermented by machines, it still keeps the traditional aging process, so its taste stays the same.
⑤In recent years, the vinegar plant in Qingxu follows the times. While it keeps its tradition, it welcomes new ideas, such as ice cream with vinegar.

iShowSpeed is a famous American YouTuber. He has lots of fans. One day, he decided to visit China and show his fans what it’s really like there.
He started a super-long livestream (直播). On the first day, he talked and showed things for six hours! He traveled on bullet trains. Even when the train went through dark tunnels (隧道) in the mountains, his livestream still worked perfectly. That’s because China has super-fast 5G internet almost everywhere, even in far places.
He also showed how easy it is to buy things in China. With just a quick scan of a QR code (二维码) on his phone, he could pay for snacks from street stands, ride the subway, or take a bus in the countryside.
But the best part was meeting friendly people. In Shanghai, old people taught him how to dance with fans (扇子舞). And on the street, strangers gave him cups of yummy milk tea. He felt so welcome!
Some people didn’t like that iShowSpeed was showing such a good side of China. They said mean things, like he was just doing it because China told him to. But his team said that China didn’t pay for his trip. He had been to other countries too and always showed the real stories.
The Chinese embassy (大使馆) in the US saw his videos and thought they were great. They invited Americans to visit China and see for themselves. It’s just like how ping-pong diplomacy (乒乓外交) helped bring people together in 1971. Now, iShowSpeed is doing the same with his videos.

There was a table set out under a tree in front of the house, and the March Hare and the Hatter were having tea at it. A dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep, and the two were resting their arms on it, and talking over its head. “Very uncomfortable for the dormouse,” thought Alice, “only, as it’s asleep. I think it doesn’t mind.” The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it. “No room! No room!” they cried out … “There’s plenty of room!” and she sat down in a large armchair at one end of the table. “Have some wine,” the March Hare said in an encouraging tone.
Alice looked all round the table, but there was nothing on it but tea. “I don’t see any wine,” she said. “There isn’t any,” said the March Hare. “Then it was impolite of you not to offer it,” said Alice angrily. “It wasn’t very civil of you to take your seat without invitation,” said the March Hare. “I didn’t know it was your table,” said Alice, “it’s laid (摆放) for a great many more than three.”
“Your hair wants cutting,” said the Hatter. He had been watching Alice for some time. “You should learn not to give your personal ideas,” Alice said seriously (严肃地), “it’s very rude.”

“Do you mean that you think you can find out the answer to it ” said the March Hare. “Exactly so.” said Alice. “Then you should say what you mean.” the March Hare went on. “I do,” Alice quickly replied, “at least—at least I mean what I say—that’s the same thing, you know.”
Finally, they all began to laugh at Alice.
