Do you like listening to music Music is a universal language that touches the hearts of people of all ages and
cultures. It is not just a combination of melodies (音符)and rhythms (节奏), but a powerful medium that conveys
(传递) emotions, tells stories, and connects individuals (个体)across distances.
From a young age, music plays an important role in our lives. Children enjoy singing nursery rhymes and
dancing to simple tunes, which helps them develop language skills and creativity. As we grow older, we turn to
different genres of music to match our moods—soft and soothing (舒缓的)music calms our nervousness after a
long day, while cheerful and energetic music lifts our spirits and encourages us.
Music also has remarkable healing power. Many studies have shown that listening to music can reduce stress,
lower blood pressure, and improve mental well-being. For people suffering from anxiety or depression, music
therapy (疗 法 ) offers a gentle way to express their feelings and find comfort. Moreover, playing a musical
instrument teaches patience, discipline (自律), and teamwork, making it a valuable skill for personal growth.
In today’s digital world, music is more convenient to get than ever. We can stream songs on our phones, attend

CRISPR is a gene—editing (基因编辑) technology that greatly influences the world. Gene—editing means
replacing (代替) a part of the DNA with a specially designed CRISPR molecule (分子).
Application (应用) of CRISPR
CRISPR is already widely used for research. In fact, some people might have the chance to try CRISPR food
as early as 2026. Genius, a UK company, has edited the genes of hundreds of pigs to make the pigs safe from a
virus (病毒). After their genes are edited, young pigs will grow stronger and faster, and it will be less possible for
them to get diseases like pneumonia (肺炎). Besides, researchers at North Carolina State University, US, found that
CRISPR—edited trees can greatly reduce the use of energy and water in the process of paper making.
Advantages and opportunities (机会)
CRISPR is cheap and easy compared to other ways to edit genomes (基因组). There were similar ways before
the technology, but they often took years and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the future, CRISPR
technology might change the medicine industry and prevent many diseases for human beings. The world’s first
CRISPR treatment for sickle cell disease (镰状细胞病) is just the start, soon this gene editing tool could be used to
treat a lot of diseases such as cancer, reported New Scientist.
Disadvantages and problems
CRISPR technology can cause safety problems. For example, if CRISPR targets (把……当着目标) a wrong
part within the DNA, edits could cause disease. Many countries are now considering how to control these
technologies to keep them safe for use. There are also voices of ethical (伦理的) problems when it comes to the
editing of human DNA. For example, the US Government Accountability Office raised the following questions: to
what extent (程度) should this technology affect future generations (一代代) Should research on human embryos
(胚胎) be allowed
13. How does the writer tell us CRISPR greatly influences the world
A. By showing clues (线索). B. By listing numbers.
C. By telling stories. D. By giving examples.
14. What fact does the passage lead you to believe
A. Now scientists have found ways to control these technologies to keep them safe for use.
B. CRISPR is better than other ways because it spends less time and less money.
C. CRISPR-edited pigs are too strong to get diseases.
D. The writer thinks research on human embryos shouldn’t be allowed.
15. What can we infer about CRISPR technology from the passage
A. It has completely solved the world’s energy crisis (危机).
B. The UK company Genius has no plans to edit more animals.
C. It may make a big difference to the future of medical treatment.
D. All countries in the world have strict laws to ban CRISPR.
16. Why do many countries consider controlling CRISPR technology
A. Because it may cause safety problems and ethical issues
B. Because it is too cheap and easy to use for researchers
C. Because it has changed the medicine industry successfully
D. Because it has edited the genes of trees and pigs

What is life’s greatest gift It is choice. Choice is the ability to choose some actions from a set of things to
achieve a goal. Why is choice so great The reason is that it turns us from dumb animals into artists. Choice
becomes the tool we use to sculpt (塑造) our life. The tool doesn’t come free, however, for the price of choice is
responsibility. 17 It is enjoyment.
Choice is power. Choice is at the heart of life. It’s the creative power of life. Life is always changing and we
have to make lots of choices. 18 We often need to check where we are on our journey. We need to ask
questions: Am I moving closer to my goals If not, what action will I take now to make myself realize my goals
19 And our life becomes more convenient or comfortable because of them. For example, you decide
which stores to shop at and which bus station to go on. But the decisions that we make to sculpt our lives are much
more important than deciding where to shop. The more we understand the difference between small and big
decisions, the more pleasure we will get.
Life is like a chess game. 20 All chess lovers realize that it isn’t necessary to win to enjoy the game.
Make the best moves you can under the conditions. Then you can enjoy your life.
A. The pleasure is in the playing.
B. In fact, we have to make choices every day.

Technology is changing the world at an amazing speed, and robots are making history on the global stage. A
clear example comes from China’s Spring Festival Gala, where robots from Unitree Robotics have shown
unbelievable progress in just one year.
In the 2025 Gala, these robots performed the traditional Yangko dance. Their movements were simple and a
little stiff, but they won people’s hearts with cute and lively performances. No one could imagine how much they
would improve in just 12 months. The 2026 Spring Festival Gala surprised everyone. The same robots did not
dance anymore. Instead, they skillfully played with nunchaku (双节棍), performed Drunken Fist (醉拳), did flips
(空翻), and even practiced kung fu with real martial artists. They moved quickly, kept perfect balance, and finished
all actions without any mistakes.
This great jump shows how fast technology is developing. Better AI, smarter control systems and stronger
body parts help robots do more difficult jobs. Robots are no longer just machines; they can learn, create and work
with bumans.
From folk dance to kung fu, these robots tell us: technology keeps breaking limits (限制). In the near future,
robots will help us in more ways, making our life easier and more colorful.

Nowadays, many students use AI to do homework. Different students have different opinions.
Some think AI is helpful, while others worry it may bring problems.
In my opinion, AI is a helpful tool only if we use it properly. First, AI can explain difficult
knowledge in simple ways, like helping us work out difficult math problems step by step. Second, it
can help us organize ideas for writing, but we should finish writing by ourselves. If we just copy AI’
s answers, we will lose the chance to think independently.
So, we should treat AI as a helper, and it can't take the place of our hard work.
