In a well-decorated music studio, posters of the film Ne Zha 2 on the walls, two large screens sit on a large
desk. It’s here that Tang Hanxiao, an experienced singer and composer (作曲家), wrote the theme song Jiushi Ne
Zha (It is Ne Zha) for the film.
In the summer of 2024, Tang was asked to make up the music for the film. As the making of the film was not
finished, he was given only the plots (情节) and allowed to watch the last two minutes of the film, where Ne Zha
tells Ao Bing that he has decided to continue his fight. “This scene gave me a picture of the whole film and allowed
me to feel the energy of the role. Everything about the song begins with this scene,” says Tang.
For Tang, the creation of the song was a deeply personal journey — one that used music to connect with and
show the personalities of the roles. Tang says the suona, an instrument known for its exciting and powerful sound,
is a symbol of the courage to challenge society bias (偏见), making it a perfect match for Ne Zha’s brave and
rebellious (叛逆的) nature. As a result, it became the driving force behind the song.
“Making art is like dreaming. You can shape a world of your own,” Tang says. “When I connected with Ne
Zha, there was a moment I really felt like I was him. That feeling gave power to the song.”
As a result of the film’s popularity, the song has become one of the most listened-to on major social platforms
(平台). In just three weeks, the song has got 3 million views on the video-sharing platform Bilibili and received
more than 50,000 comments on QQ Music.
50. What is the purpose of Paragraph 1
A. To advertise a new film.

C. To describe a film character.
51. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to
A. The suona. B. The courage. C. The song.
52. What does the composer mean by comparing art to dreaming in Paragraph 4
A. Making art and dreaming both have nothing to do with real life.
B. Making art is similar to having a dream because you can’t control it.
C. Making art allows people to build a personal world just like in a dream.
53. What is the text mainly about
A. The influence of the suona on modern music.

C. The life experiences of a famous singer and composer.

①Take a look at the two shapes in the picture. Which one do you think is “kiki” and which one is “bouba”
This is part of a famous bouba-kiki experiment done in both America and India.
②In the experiment, people were shown two drawings. One had a rounded shape, and the other had a star-like
shape. People had to name each of them with “bouba” or “kiki”. Neither of these words was a real word in any
language and had no meaning. However, 95% of people decided the rounded one was “bouba”, and the star-like
one was “kiki”.
③The experiment shows our brains seem to connect sounds with shapes. The researchers believe the results
have something to do with the mouth shapes we make when we say these words. Pronouncing “bouba” requires the
mouth to make a rounded shape. Other examples of “rounded” sounds are oo in “room” and o in “wrote”. An
unrounded mouth shape is needed to make the sound of “kiki”. “Unrounded” sounds require the lips (嘴唇) to be
spread apart, like ee in “peek” or a in “had”.
④Another explanation is that letters such as k or t are thought to have unrounded sounds because of their
sharp shapes. Letters like b or g have rounded shapes, so they are considered to have rounded and soft sounds.
⑤Understanding the bouba-kiki effect can lead to its possible use in fields like branding (品牌) and
communication. For example, if a toy brand wants to show its softness and friendliness, it may follow the “bouba”
effect and choose rounded shapes for the logo and rounded sounds for product names. Similarly, a technology
company may turn to the “kiki” effect to show its sharpness and power. So next time you want to design a logo for
a school event or name a product, consider whether it feels more like “bouba” or “kiki”!
54. How does the writer begin the text
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving examples. C. By asking a question.
55. According to the text, what can you learn about the bouba-kiki experiment
A. It shows connections between shapes and sounds.
B. “Bouba” and “kiki” come from Indian languages.
C. Most people connect “bouba” with star-like things.
56. Which brand best shows the “kiki” effect
A. Loops. B. Wubbo. C. Teeki.
57. What is the correct structure of the text (P1= Paragraph 1)
A. B. C.

As winter comes, hands can easily get cold. Thick gloves might be a good choice, but sometimes wearing
them is inconvenient. However, this was not a problem for ancient Chinese people, who had a fine tool to warm
their hands: hand warmers.
There is one folk story about its invention. Emperor Yang from the Sui Dynasty visited Jiangsu in winter.
Because of the cold, a local official asked craftsmen (工匠) to make a small warmer for the emperor that could be
held in his hands. So, the hand warmer was created.
By the Song Dynasty, the warmers had become popular among the common people. Skills for producing the
tool were widely used in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Many poets from this period kept a record of people using
hand warmers.
In the early days, people often used copper (铜) for the outer shell in the production process. It was more
suitable than silver, iron and porcelain because it could transfer (传 导 ) heat better, while reducing the risk of
breakage or corrosion (腐蚀). Inside a hand warmer, there were coals, some of which were mixed with flowers,
giving off a nice smell when burned.
Ancient hand warmers had different designs. Round, square and octagonal shapes were typical, and there were
also some fashioned shapes which looked like pumpkins, flowers and turtle shells. The patterns on the warmers
would usually be animals or symbols with good meanings, such as deer, flowers or the Chinese characters for “long
life”.

Reading has always been my best partner in growing up better.
When I was in Grade 7, I was afraid to talk with others and felt unconfident. My English teacher advised me to
read more English books. I started with simple storybooks and gradually loved reading, learning from stories about
brave heroes, kind friends and wonderful adventures.
Reading not only improves my English but also changes me greatly. I learn different ways of thinking from
books and become more confident and outgoing. Now I dare to share my ideas with classmates and learn to be kind
and brave like the characters.
I believe reading is a lifelong journey. It will keep helping me become a better person.
