The doctor left without saying anything else. That night Colin slept well. He dreamt about the garden again, and Dickon and his animals.
Early the next morning, Mary ran into his room, “Dickon is here with his animals!” she cried. Colin looked very excited.
Dickon came in. The new-born lamb (羔羊) was in his arms and the little red fox walked next to him. A bird sat on his left shoulder (肩膀) and a squirrel sat on the other. Another squirrel was looking out of his coat pocket. Colin stared as Dickon gave him the new-born lamb.

What interested the twins most was the attic (阁楼). There they found a dirty old bottle. After cleaning it, a surprising note inside caught their attention.
*By stones where shadows lie, close to where old leaves die.*
*Not far below, under the earth, lies a treasure of secret worth.*
*If you search and do not fear, the past will soon be clear.*

“And these clues (线索)! Where old leaves die,” Sam read aloud. “It’s near those apple trees.”
“Let’s get a shovel (铲子) and borrow a metal detector (金属探测器) to find the treasure.”

Reading helps improve our language skills, open our minds and relax ourselves. But now many people spend less time reading. They enjoy watching short videos or playing mobile games more.

例文
I love reading books, especially science fiction.
They are full of rich imagination and show me various amazing future worlds with wonderful stories. I usually read for half an hour quietly before going to bed every night. Sometimes, I take careful notes to remember good ideas and beautiful sentences in them. Reading not only brings me great joy and relaxation, but also helps me learn many new words and think more deeply about life.
Good books are just like close friends, always guiding me to grow better and become wiser every day.
