1936年,在双偶咖啡馆的阳台上,朵拉玛尔与毕加索相识,此后九年,朵拉成为了毕加索的爱人和缪斯,同时她也是影响画家一生的重要人物。画家对蓝色、紫色、绿色和复合颜色等浓重色彩的运用,以及粗犷的线条勾勒,使得这幅抽象画因此而闻名于世。
毕加索画作魅力无穷,即使曾遭破坏,但修复后依然卖出天价。日前收藏大鳄史蒂芬·科恩从赌场大亨史蒂夫·韦恩手中以1.55亿美元买下了毕加索创作于1932年的作品《梦》(《Le Rve》)。更为重要的是该幅作品曾遭意外破坏,后进行修复。而此次的成交价,1.55亿美元(约合9.6亿元人民币)不仅创下了毕加索作品的新纪录,同时也是美国收藏家为一件艺术品支付的最高价格。
有人认为,这是一幅毕加索晚期的带有自喻色彩的作品。在《花瓶边的男人和女人,半身像》中,男人的形象是画家描绘的主要对象——尽管看起来女人头在男人头的前面,而且双方躯体的错位使二者显得更加难分难解,浑然一体。那卷曲而狂乱的发型、轮状的皱领和披肩,被认为是画家的自画像的隐喻手段之一。女人在画中处于一个相对弱势的位置,她无助而充满着诱惑。画中右边五斗柜上的花瓶和绿色的植物看起来非常抽象,充满生机——它与其说是一种装饰,不如说是画家在“老之将至”时的自我激励。

★whether conj. 是否=if
whether 和if的区别
1.当句末为or not时,引导词只能用whether而不能用if. whether…or not =if
2.介词后,引导词只能用whether而不能用if.
3.与不定式连用,引导词只能用whether而不 能用if.
4.从句放在 句首,引导词只能用whether而不能用if.
5. if在表示“如果”的时候,不可以用whether取代
★hang
① vt.&vi(将……)悬挂,绞死, 吊死

★upside down ① 上下颠倒
当他倒立时,一切似乎颠倒了。
When he stands on his head, everything appears upside down to him.

My little boy always makes the room upside down.

Language points
I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures. Many people pretend that they understand modern art. They always tell you what a picture is 'about'.

宾语从句
pretend to do sth.
Of course, many pictures arc not 'about' anything. They are just pretty patterns. We like them in the same way that we like pretty curtain material.

I love you in the same way that I love my father.
I think that young children often appreciate modern pictures better than anyone else.
They notice more.

the present simple tense
一般现在时
一般现在时
1 表示现在发生的动作、情况、状态和特征。 
I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures.(目前状态)
My mother is a doctor.
2 习惯性 、经常性动作。
他总是帮助别人
He always helps others.
3 客观事实和普遍真理。
The earth is smaller than the sun.
Three minus one is two.三减一等于二。
He said that the sun rises in the east.  
客观事实和真理无论谓语的时态是什么都用一般现在时。
4 表示一种自然现象。(也可以叫客观真理)
Days are long in summer.
在夏天,白天很长。
Winter comes after autumn.
秋去,冬来。
5 在以here,there开头的句子中,用一般现在时表示正在发生的动作。
Look! Here comes the bus.
=The bus is coming here. 瞧!公共汽车来了。
6 部分动词如be, begin, leave, come, go等的一般现在时可以表示按规定、计划或安排预计将要发生的动作或 状态。
Tomorrow is Saturday.
The train leaves for Beijing at seven.
7 习惯用语
Believe it or not, that is true.
口语中常说 believe it or not,”信不信由你”,“我说的是真的”。
相当一个插入语,短语中的believe没有词形变化。
有些表示状态和感觉的动词通常用一般现在时。这些动词一般不用于进行时:
appear,appreciate,be, believe,notice,feel,find,forget,resemble,hear,know, like,look like,remember,see,think,understand等:
He's listening to that music! He must like it!
I can't understand this picture.
 
频率副词是表示动作发生的频率,多与一般现在时连用。
★100﹪always “总是;一直;始终”。
He always comes late.
★90﹪usually “通常,经常”。
I usually go to bed at10:00.
★70﹪often, frequently 表示“常常,经常”。
They often clean the classroom after school.
★40﹪sometimes “有时,不时”。
We sometimes go skiing in winter.
★5﹪hardly ,ever,rarely,seldom “几乎从不;很少;难得”。
He hardly goes to bed before nine o’clock.
never(从不) once(一次), twice(两次) , from time to time(间或,有时) ,almost( 几乎)

Special Difficulties
注意事项 :
1) 引号位于一行之上, 它们应在句尾其他标
点符号—如逗号、句号、问号—之外.
2) 引语的第一个词以大写字母开头.
3) 在said, asked等词后面用逗号, 只有当
它们位于句尾时,才在它们的后面用句号。
4)当said, asked等词置于引语
之间时, 句子的后半部分以
小写字母开始.
5)当一个新的说话人开始讲话
时,要另起一个段落。
