Imagine you are walking on the hills that seem to never end. The warm sunshine is shining on you, and you can hear birds singing all around. Such a peaceful scene is hard to find in the modern world. Our natural soundscapes (声音环境) are falling silent as the number of birds is getting smaller.
Our study looked into the connection between birdsong and people, especially in English vineyards (葡萄园) . We made a survey about communities across 21 vineyards. The results showed that vineyards which had more kinds of birds had louder and more complex (复杂的) soundscapes.
★ The short answer is yes. More and more facts show that spending time in nature is good for our health. It can lower the risks of getting heart diseases and anxiety. Natural soundscapes help us relax and feel calm.
So as part of our research, we studied the experiences of 186 people who joined wine tours at three vineyards with different soundscapes. We also improved some vineyard soundscapes with hidden speakers, which played the songs of five more bird species (物种). This was designed to see how the visitors’ feelings about nature would change when the number of bird species and songs increased.
The results were quite interesting. Visitors who experienced louder and more complex sounds—whether in vineyards with naturally richer soundscapes or in those we had improved—reported enjoying the sounds more. They felt closer to nature and had higher satisfaction with their tours. With richer soundscapes, they felt more relaxed and happier during the tours.
Our study shows how birdsong directly influences our happiness. It also gives a very good reason for protecting natural soundscapes. Protecting birds and their home is important to everyone. So, we hope businesses and people will be encouraged to spend time and money on protecting nature and helping people feel closer to nature.
21.What’s the purpose of the first paragraph
A.To show opinions. B.To make readers happy.
C.To introduce the topic. D.To explain the reasons.
22.Which of the following vineyard has the loudest and the most complex soundscape
A. B. C. D.
23.Which of the following can be put in ★
A.But do vineyards with more bird species produce wine that tastes better
B.But does it make a difference if our natural soundscapes are becoming quiet
C.Do human activities cause the drop of the number of birds in nature
D.Do people like visiting vineyards with simple soundscapes better
24.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about
A.What the researchers did. B.The background of the research.
C.What the researchers found. D.The importance of the research.
25.What do the findings of the study suggest
A.Doing deeper research into birds. B.Building better businesses.

Barbara, 70, and I, at 71, have swum together for at least 50 years. We have both read Bonnie Tsui’s Why We Swim, a fine book about cold-water swimming. We challenged ourselves to swim for as long as possible through September and into October.
I have long loved swimming, though the fear of being seen as fat has troubled me. Cold-water swimming helped me improve my sense of happiness, and let me use my body. Barbara and I went swimming regularly and became as swimming sisters. When she returned to the United States, I felt upset, and I did not know how I could continue our cold-water tradition. I wasn’t prepared to swim alone.
But, I had to swim; there were larger promises I could not give up. In the summer, we planned to cross to an island. I had to stay fit. We also planned to host a cold water swimming race in the fall. We would make it a yearly event, improving our strength so that, in our 80s, we might swim through October and into November.
With these plans in mind, I joined my local city pool. I had not been in a public pool for about 30 years. But my body said swim, my brain said swim and my heart could not let go. So I went anyway.
I am swimming. I know my love of the water, know my promise for the spring and the summer that will come. I want to step back into the lake in May, and through September and October with Barbara. When you travel in Sichuan, never miss the wonderful face-changing at the local tea house. How much do you know about this traditional skill Let’s learn something about it.
Face-changing is a unique skill in Sichuan Opera, one Intangible Cultural Heritage (非物质文化遗产). It is also a very lively way to show the ideas and feelings of different characters of the play.
It is widely believed that the skill of face-changing could date back to ancient times. To drive away the dangerous animals and protect themselves, the ancient people painted their faces in different colors, making themselves look scary. Later, it developed into a famous art form.
There are three kinds of skills of face-changing, including wiping (擦) the face, blowing the face and pulling the face. Besides, breathing is another skill of face-changing, but few people know it.
Before performing the skill of wiping the face, the performer will first put some special paint on the face. Then he could change the color of his face at once by wiping it. When the actors perform the skill of blowing the face, they blow a small box full of cosmetic powders (化妆粉). And then the powders are blown to his face, changing the color into another color. The skill of pulling the face is more difficult. Under the cover of the dancing movements, the actor pulls each piece of the facial makeup (脸谱) which is tied (系) with a thin thread (线). The performer must do the movements carefully and very quickly. This skill master, Peng Denghuai, changed 14 masks in 25 seconds. This was his latest Guinness World Record.

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Imagine you are walking on the hills that seem to never end.

I will keep swimming while I wait for Barbara to come back and share the cold-water wonder side by side.

【答案】76.Could you please sweep the floor 77.Does the tiger run faster than the cheetah 78.I want to be a pilot 79.How do you make rice noodles 80.I will take Line 4 subway
【解析】76.图片是扫地场景,答句“I’ll do it right now.”提到Sam同意立刻完成这件事,Could you please...搭配短语sweep the floor“扫地”,因此“Could you please sweep the floor”符合对话语境。
77.图为老虎和猎豹,答句“No, the cheetah runs faster.”否定后说明猎豹跑得更快,因此问题询问“老虎跑得比猎豹快吗”,且针对事实提问,用一般现在时的一般疑问句,“Does the tiger run faster than the cheetah”符合对话情景。
78.问句“What do you want to be when you grow up ”提问长大后的职业志向,图片是搭配直升机的飞行员,可以说想成为飞行员,“I want to be a pilot”符合对话情景。
79.图片为米线,答句“First, wash the vegetables. Next,...”在讲解制作步骤,因此提问“如何制作米线”,特殊疑问句“How do you make rice noodles”符合“食物制作”的场景。
80.问句“How will you go to Shandong Museum if you don’t want to drive ”询问不开车时的出行方式,图片是济南地铁4号线,因此可以说可以乘坐地铁4号线,“I will take Line 4 subway”符合对话语境。

Xi’ an is well worth a visit. If I have time to explore a city once again, Xi’an will be my first choice.
【答案】范文:
An unforgettable trip
Last summer, I went on an unforgettable trip to Xi’an with my friends. Rich in history and culture, it’s one of the ancient capital cities.
First, we visited the Terracotta Army—a collection of clay soldiers that left us amazed, but we could not get enough of its long history. Then we took a walk along the ancient city wall, enjoying the old-time feel of the historic buildings. We also visited the Drum Tower. It has been the subject for many famous Chinese painters and poets. We tasted lots of delicious local snacks and we loved the special food culture here so much.
Xi’an is well worth a visit. If I have time to explore a city once again, Xi’an will be my first choice.
